Sounds like one of the front panel buttons is jammed. press each one and see if any fail to "rebound" or feel different from the rest. You can usually work the button in a 'circular motion" to release it. If the buttons seem normal , it's possible that the switch inside the TV has collapsed

We have a JVC AV-32FA44 television. It is almost 8 years old. The tv worked fine. Turned it off. A short time later turned it back on and there is sound but no picture--just a black screen. My brother had...

There seems to be issues with the soldering on it getting old and loose, also there are some common parts that burn out or go bad over time. I am not sure if you want to spend the money or are going to be able to find someone to fix it.

Dog steps on remote and a black screen pops up in the middle of screen but you can see the picture on te outside of the black box. Jvc 32' d-series tv the remote is a jvc rm-c252

Sounds like a closed caption box or a pip box, if not try all the buttons on the remote one by one and lastly try to reset to factory settings if the option is present in menu settings.

JVC AV-27430 27"

Go into your settings of the TV menu or there will be a single button on the JVC remote marked "CC" for closed caption. Press it or in the menu turn off the "TEXT" mode. With the text mode on you are allowing the TV to display text information wich means usually a black rectangular box that appears on the screen with no text in it. Usually on the cc button just press it until it scrolls through turning off the CC or text modes.

No picture, No sound

Hi there!
If the set is dead after the popping sound, then it has probably blown a component due to high voltage. Everything inside a tv starts with the power supply. Nothing will work unless the power supply is 100%. I don't know what your rates for repairs are in general, but the price sounds good. The final decision is yours to repair or replace. Good Luck, JUS004

JVC AV-32FA44 32" - No Picture, but sound OK

You could have a power supply problem as parts do go bad. Why your set faile is a mystery.. Of course if your not a technician, a TV set is NO place to be experimenting with. It only about a year old you say But get the papers on this set if you can find them and make sure as there is a 12 month warranty on this model. You should contact JVC At 1-800-252-5722 or online at http://www.jvc.com/support/. Good Luck

JVC AV-27D500 27" TV

The closed caption or PIP functions in mostly all sets are only acessable trhough the menu.. You need the original remote to do this. If you dont have one go to http://www.remotes.com or call 1-800-remotes for inexpensive exact replacement remote controls. If you do have the original remote and can acesess the menu but the features are not there then theres a problem with the sets built in firmware and the only way to fix this would be to replace the sets microprocessor IC. Good Luck
