Check Ice Hopper For a Stuck Switch

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2013

I unplugged the power from entire unit. Plugged back in after couple minutes and cycled through process to turn on then to crushed ice then off then on again. Then went through a manual dump and fill cycle. It has worked fine since then. Wife thinks I'm brilliant ..... I have no idea what happened or why it works now but I'm claiming victory

Where is the ice maker fan for LG French Door Refrigerator?

Hello,

The ice maker fan is located in the freezer and is part of the Grille Assembly ( LG part Name) Which is the removable back panel in the freezer. If you have an error code on the display such as ER/IF the fan is not rotating due to failure or ice accumulation in the fan blade. If you have no error code and the ice maker is not producing ice 2 things to check are...1. On the bottom of the ice maker there is a Test Button. Press and hold the button and the ice maker should rotate, Dump ice cubes and refill with water. If the ice maker does not cycle replace the ice maker. 2. Check freezer temperature. Freezer Temperature must be below 15 degrees to make ice. Ideally freezer temp should be 0 Degrees. If you have warm temps in the freezer there may be a sealed system issue preventing proper cooling.

Hope this helps.

Kenmore WR30X0318 Ice Maker Stopped Making Ice

The ice maker uses a internal thermostat that starts the cycle of dropping the ice and refilling with tap water. If your water control valve works filling the ice maker then the problem is the ice maker itself that will need replaced. Unfortuantly the ice maker you have has no rebuildable parts and will need to be replace with a=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly

I have a MN - TFX24PRXB - BB GE Side by side refrigerator. The Ice maker does not make ice anymore. I have tested the water valve and it is working. If I turn the gears it will start the process to...

Check for freezer temp - if it is not 10 degrees or below the ice maker thermostat will not turn the ice maker cycle on by removing the frozen ice in tray and then refilling it for next dump cycle. And if freezer temp is high you may have leaking door gasket, dirty condenser coils, improperly operating self defroster which raises temps, low refrigerant.

\how di I remove the ice maker on a RF226

2 screws at the front of Ice maker they are screwed to ceiling of freezer. remove and then pull IM to you. try the test button under the motor of the IM before you replace. just push it and wait. should start to cycle in a few seconds. if it cycles and fills with water your ok. then give about 2 hours to see if it dumps ice. make sure your freezer temp is set to -1 or your IM may not cycle. that is a samsung thing.

Ice maker has ice motor doen't dump the ice

Your ice-maker may need to be "hard-reset". To do this, perform a manual-defrost by emptying out the freezer (and fridge) and shutting all power off to your unit for several hours (at least half a day unless you can be sure the temp in the freezer has fully reached ambient. Next, with freezer empty, restore power, make sure the "ice" setting is set to off, then set the forced power-freeze mode (you can refill the fridge, but leave the freezer empty for now. When the power-freeze completes (at least 2.5 hours) you can refill the freezer, set the "ice" mode to block/crushed (IE something other than off) and then hit the "black reset button" to restart the ice-maker. IF it still will not dump the cubes then the ice sensor/control board may have failed.

The ice cube tray in the automatic ice maker overfills with water. After the ice dumps, the water for the refill overflows the tray and some goes in the dump bin.

Good day,
Sounds like a bad water valve located in the rear bottom of the machine. (not shutting down properly).
Solution is to replace the valve.
In extremely rare cases it can be a faulty ice maker.
The ice maker sends power to the water valve for 7 seconds on each cycle. If the circuit board in the ice maker malfunctions, it could cause this problem.
But again, very rare.

Kenmore 56541 side by side icemaker nor making ice The in door water dispencer works Arm on tray is on no water getting to tray

1.Bad water valve located in the back bottom of refrigerator.
2. Frozen fill tube going into back of ice maker. (common problem)
3. Ice maker not cycling. Pour water into ice maker cavity until near filled.
Wait a few hours and see if it dumps.
4.In rare cases, the switch in the ice maker body fails. Ice maker will cycle but not tell water valve to refill.

Samsung Refrigerator makes ice, but then quits.

I have this same thing happening, also. I have not been able to find a solution to this issue, however. The ejector blades push against the ice, apparently a gear pops loose with a loud clicking sound and the heater either does not work or never turns on. I end up killing the breaker to thr refrig,`removing the icemaker, letting it wrm up dumping the ice and putting it back in.

No ice

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will make the switch to start the cycle.

If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
