Rca hd52w140 tv smelt like burnt plastic and wont come on the power button lights up but no power

set has the 3 strikes and you are out= will try 3 times and then goes into shutdown===you have either a power supply problem or a short somewhere.

Definitely, some thing is burnt. if lucky, it could be a fuse that has simply blown, if unlucky, then its power board got short circuited and components got burnt. my recommendation is your contact the nearest service center have them look at it. they will have to dismantle it first to get to the problem point.

looks like you have hor.output shorted..

I have the same problem, push button to turn on tv but it only does a click like it is going to turn on and then another click bit it wont turn on. Finally a red light is just blinking.

Any suggestions, is there a freeze button or code that I need to push.

if it is in warrenty period.. please cheak it or just open the cover see whether the 250 v coming in the start point of the circuit board and see whether an fuse wire is burnt out , if burnt out replace it and check whether the further voltage comes after step down the transformer.. if it correct & fuse is replaced it wil work. thank sir

Your flyback has shorted out and thats whats burning the resistors cahances are the HOT is shorted as well. You can get some information at the following link for RCA problems. Just leave them an email with your model and what the problem is

Does the unit show a flashing led on front panel. make any sounds. reset this tv if it works invloves unpluging the set for 30 minites.

Check first R14705 to see if burnt! If so then HV Trans is bad. Also if you need schematic try www.servicemanuals.net
