SOURCE: Door hinge unaligned.

They are adjustable. It may have a cap over the top hing. If so it will either pop off with a flat blade screw driver. It it has a screw holding it, it will be in the center of the cap. When this is removed, there are three 1/4" head bolts on the fridge side of the hing. Loosen them, pull up on the door and re-tighten. The door should line up with the other door if the other door is aligned correctly. You may have to adjust both.

  • Notice: After you open the door half way and let it go, the door should close by it's self when adjusted correctly.

SOURCE: I have an Westinghouse Silhouette

For best performance set the control at a mid point between OFF and HIGH.
The closer you set it to OFF the warmer the freezer.
The closer to the right HIGH the colder the freezer.

How to Reverse Your Refrigerator Door (Most units)

1. Remove the toe grille.
2. Remove top hinge cover if available. Trace around the hinge with a soft lead pencil. This makes the re-installation easier. Remove top hinge and lift door off the center hinge pin, and set the door aside.
3. Unscrew the center hinge pin using an adjustable wrench and save for reassembly. Ensure that the plastic washer stays on hinge pin.
4. Lift the refrigerator door off of the bottom hinge and set aside.
5. Remove center hinge and shim by removing inside screw and loosening two outside screws enough to allow hinge and shim to slide out. Tighten screws.
6. Loosen two outside screws on opposite side of refrigerator, remove inside screw and install center hinge.
7. Remove two screws on bottom hinge with 3/8" socket wrench.
8. Install bottom hinge on opposite side with the two screws removed from Step 7.
9. Unscrew the bottom hinge pin using adjustable wrench. Move hinge pin to other hold in hinge and tighten with adjustable wrench.
10. Reverse door handles.
11. Move freezer and refrigerator door stops to opposite side. Before starting screws, use an awl to puncture the foam.
12. Position refrigerator door onto bottom hinge pin and screw center hinge pin through center hinge into the top of the door. Close refrigerator door to help align hinge hole.
13. Tighten center hinge pin with adjustable wrench.
14. Remove cabinet and hinge hold plugs and move to opposite side.
15. Lower freezer door onto center hinge pin (if you have a separate freezer door).
16. Close freezer door. Have an assistant lift up on opposite side of the door while tightening screws to install top hinge.
17. Flip top grille and reinstall.
18. Plug in electrical power cord and turn refrigerator temperature control to center position. Adjust setting as needed.

Freezer door wont shut straight

One of the two hinges on refrigerator doors is meant to be adjustable; on your freezer door, it may be underneath the cabinet. Use a mirror to see if that lower hinge appears to have an adjustment range. This can be as simple as over-sized holes through which the screws are placed. It may be necessary to slightly tilt and prop up the entire unit for access.

Door won't stay shut

Hi,
To adjust the door on a refrigerator, you need to make an adjustment at the hinge to the door. Don't know what you have, but all refrigerators today cann be adjusted at that hinge to make it bias toward swinging open or shut when left alone.

on the bottom door hinges there are bushes to adjust the hight they wear out in time,, if you take off the hinges on this door you can "pack out" the door hinge with steel washers to adjust the hight there by lifting the door up a little

Fridge Door seems to have dropped

The cam risers at the bottom hinge have gone bad. Get the model number form the fresh food section and you will be able to order new ones. Not expensive to repair.

Door does not shut tight--bad latch???

usually the door latch will go bad when the door hinge bushings are very worn. Inspect the door hinge by holding the door a grab the outside door handle and the door shell firmly. Now lift the door up vertically and see if there is any play in the hinges. If the slightest movement is found replace the door hinge pins and bushings. your door latch may work great again If not replace that too
