My lg plasma tv has sudenly when i put it on crackles and sound goes i switch it off and leave it for a few minutes and the sound comes back on

Send it back ASAP and get a replacement! I'm serious. You wouldn't want to baby sit this lemon by missing work because you're waiting for a home service tech provided by the company. When the tech comes, he will not have the part required to fix the unit and you'll be waiting at least a week to get another service call. That's another day missing work. You are one lucky guy if the servicer can totally fix the unit to your satisfaction in two visits. Days missed at work could very well add up into buying a new TV. Do not take ownership of this problematic unit especially if you just bought it. Send it back!

Most likely it's the PDP panel wires failure. It won't cost you more to repair then to buy a new one.

ok, phoned a technician today and he has diagnosed the y/suss board as gone and 150 to fix but cant guarantee it will fix it for good, another board may go pop z/suss . so its the local refuse collection point for it.
