Water continusly drips inside my regrigerator. It seems to be coming from a small retangular hole beside the water filter at the top of the refrigerator. I have installed a new filter but water still seems to collect on the top shelf. The filter remains dry though. It does not seem to be leaking around the filter. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Sounds like you have excess pressure building up in the water system. Is the water dispensor working? If not it sounds like you have a frozen line somewhere or the valve in the door is not working to allow the water to dispence.

The effort it would take to eliminate filter would be too much. Just leave filter in place. If new house filter is working right you should never have to replace fridge filter and your water will be double-filtered :)

Check the seal of the rubber gasket, if there are improper seal of the magnet, pour hot water along it to soften the rubber. (be careful when handling hot water). When the rubber is soften, try to stretch it a little by pulling it. close the door and the magnet will keep the seal in place.

Make sure the unit is not all iced up, try to defrost it and then retry, turn off the ice maker and water supply before defrosting. Put a thermoter in the freezer to check temp.

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.
