Yes I agree you need the hard reset. Is your iphone previously jailbroken? if that;s the case it is maybe still tethered.

SOURCE: after dropping iphone in water phone is able to charge

Although the rice concept is a good idea, it is unlikely that it has aided in the evaporation of all moisture in the unit. I have fixed a number of 'dropped in water' devices (incl an IPOD nano) and I have followed the same process:
- take the unit apart
- remove battery, clean bat and charging terminals
- remove any connector (document where necessary) and leave out in open air to dry (or use a hair dryer on low setting / under a lamp).
- clean all connectors with rubbing alchohol.
In your case, pay close attention to the cable that supplies the screen and make sure the male and female ends are dry and clean. Also locate the backlight and see if there is any moisture around it.

SOURCE: Iphone 3GS- only get the apple loading screen.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

SOURCE: my iphone 3gs battery is dead and not charging. The

Broken dock connector or logic board. If Apple doesn't replace it for you, you can find parts on Ebay or at iPhone 3GS Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at iPhone Repair Guide.

I I want to startmy iphone 3gs I dont know how to open the cover, how log I have to keep pn charging befoure the first useg

There is no "cover" to open to use the phone. Just put your sim card in it and turn it on. Assuming your in america and on the ATT network. If not. You'll have to get it unlocked first.

I just bought a iphone 3gs and i'm not with att. It's asking me for a sim which i dont have. Do i need it unlock before I can use tmobile. I cant even get in the phone without att sim card.

What are you doing with a phone without a connection? A SIM is a must for the phone to boot and function. Even a dead SIM would do. But SIM has to be in it. So contact the service provider and get a connection (and SIM). Unlocking may not be required as it is a Quad and 3G phone with all the frequencies.
