The only way to know whether a luxury watch is authentic with 100-percent certainty is to take off the case back and look at the movement--or, rather, have a watchmaker do it, be it the manufacturer (who might charge a fee to authenticate your watch, depending on the brand) or an independent watchmaker whom you deal with (who may out of the goodness of their heart check it for you). Serial numbers, etc. are a good start, but those, too, can be duplicated. True, authorised dealers (ADs) get their watches direct from the manufacturere (and are authorised in turn, thus able to stamp the manufacturer's warranty card); however, many ADs turn their watches over to the "gray market" dealers who are not authorised to stamp the warranty (depending on the brand, there only being 2 brands that actually sell everything they make at the prices they ask, there are many reasons for this: mainly, "over-stock", customer returns, refurbished, discontinued, etc.). Grey goods are authentic goods, just sold via unauthorised channels (not all grey dealers being equal, so know who it is that you are dealing with in turn and keep in mind also that many ADs hold onto their "over-stock" for eons, meaning the watch bought grey may or may not actually be brand new (could be a return for e.g.) and/or might need a service--unlike fruits and veggies, watches do not come with an expiration date. ;) That said, you can often tell whether what you have is authentic or not by carefully studying pictures of the real watch and comparing it carefully to that which you have. Other things to keep in mind are where you bought it from and for how much. Remember always that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. All the best.
Unless you bought it from a certified dealer, then most likely no. Even at times people can buy authentic parts and put together watches. Others buy authentic parts and put them on fakes to pass them off.
Surefire signs:
Breitling logos
Luminous markers
date font
color and finish combinations
just look at the breitling catalogs, if there are any differences, it is a fake...the most obvious giveaway is the crystal...it should be nonreflective and have a purple-blue hue to it when viewed from an angle. Breitling has a scret formula for anti-reflective coating
Check the papers from the seller, and unless the seller bought it from a dealer and can prove it, you have a fake. Also, check the dials and the pointers on the dials!
know the difference between model numbers and serial numbers. model numbers are easily replicated and are on the case back. Serial numbers are harder to find. Don't take it to a Breitling retailer, odds are they know less about the watches than an informed purchaser does. Also, if they suspect it is fake, at the very least they are obligated to confiscate the watch and send it to Breitling!

The watch has a serial number in the back which will certify that it’s real; you can try calling the brand directly and ask them if they will verify it for you based on the serial number in the back of the watch.
