SOURCE: Braun type 4191 blender shaft

I had the same problem, the authorized service told they cant fix it, so i tried it. First, I show you the solution:

You see the black one you attach the heads to. The axis come from the motor with the little teeths: the black plastic wore away that's why the motor works but the end doesnt rotate.
You can simply pull the black one out with a pliers with medium force and if you get a new one(thats the hardest, they wont sell you) that will works.

For the mankind, ive totally flatten out my type 4191, so i show you some pics, how to solve yours:

if you had problem with the motor, simply cut it half. You wont harm anything, the motor is in a metal cylinder.

If you have some promblem with the electronic part, its in the end of the blender. You can open it at the top, but you cant reach anything form there, nor here, sad story.
finally some photos from the bottom:

The blade barely moves and appears to be stuck with old debris/food. I want to try to take it apart to clear it. i think the switch and motor are ok

I have picked up plenty of these babies at flea markets in the past. Taking it all apart to clean is a last-resort . There are some Youtube guides, though not for exactly the same model, here (
How to open and repair Braun Hand Blender Part1 ,
How to repair Braun Hand Blender Part2 )

Sounds like the motor still moves things a bit, but you're wisely opting to not burn it out. :-)

Before you go that far, there are some intermediate things to consider. First of all, don't do anything with the blender plugged in! It can mess up fingers big time. No cutting corners here!

If the debris is external, soak it in soap and hot water, blade down, for a while, and remove what you can with a soft brush or washcloth, being careful with fingers around the blade. If the blade moves at all, grab, preferably with gloved fingers, or with a pair of pliers, and rotate the blade back and forth. If it goes a little bit and stops, don't force it, just go back the other direction as far as you can go. Hopefully after a few runs through the range of motion, it'll start moving further, and you can loosen it. Feel whether it seems to have friction, some specific spot where it binds, whether the resistance feels friction-y, or gummy. Be patient and see if working it by hand, maybe with help from a tool for grip, will loosen it up.

Also check the cord. If it's been wrapped around and around the blender for storage (no, I've NEVER done that, nope nope), over time it'll tend to get really twisty and prone to tangling on itself. it may also then get partially broken, particularly at the spot where the cord enters the body of the blender. You can carefully try wiggling sections of the cord while it's running. If things suddenly change RPMs a lot, then the cord needs to be replaced (which will lead you back to disassembly)

Trying to lube it is dodgy. This will be going into your food and drinks, and you really don't want it slowly depositing 3-in-1 oil or WD-40 back into your smoothies for the next month. If it comes to that, you'll need to take your original aim and try to disassemble it. Then you can make sure that any lube is only where it belongs.

You can find a bit more of a general discussion on disassembly (not specific to Braun) here (
How to Repair Hand Blenders DoItYourself com ) There is also a general 'Manual' for an MR-30 here (
Braun MR30 Hand Blender ) Which describes cleaning for another of the monolithic models that don't have blade assemblies that detach.

Good luck!

Looking for somebody to repair my braun blender in Cape Town

Part 3: Opening up the Braun handheld blender/mixer turbo 600, typ 4191.

The front end and the motor are a cast-joint part. With one more circumferential kerf, the grip-part came free, also showing that there is no other way to open the machine irreversibly.

It also showed that the contacts between the motor and the print are/were relatively loose, which amazed me for a motor of 600 Watt. And in my case: they were burnt. That explained the machine not working. It is surprising that the thermal safety didn't kick in when my wife used the machine

Braun blender 4191 motor part does not work. fuse is alright. cannot open the cover in order to asess the damage. please advise.

My GF broke our Braun handheld mixer type 4191 500W, trying to mix some figs, the mixer doesn't do anything anymore. I like the mixer very much. I poked a while trying to open it and look what is wrong. This is what i found to open it. On the top, where the numbers are to adjust the speed: remove gently that lid. Below that you'll find 2e lid with the numbers on (1-5), this you can get open by pressing inside the 2 holes with 2 little screwdrivers, push these 2 black tips away and the 2e lid can be removed. Unfortunately i broke my mixer up trying. Now it's open i see how it was. Good luck guys
