Are you blending something hot? When you blend a hot item the steam that is released will increase the pressure in the headspace above the contents in the blender. The lid will eventually blow off to release the pressure.
To avoid this problem begin blending with no more that one cup of ingredients. Before turning the blender on, remove the center lid insert to allow venting of steam. Blend on low speed. As you blend you can add another 1 1/2 cups of additional liquid through the opening in the lid.
Well it might just be over heated, let it cool for approx 20 minutes then restart if it doesn't then u may try switching electrical outlets, if that doesn't work then it needs to be replaced. I hope that this helps, if not please let me know and i will try and help you out as much as i can.
What you need to do is turn them by hand each time you use it, before you put your food in. Sugars and other deposits are often left around the blade assembly when you mix smoothies and stuff. Often this sugar is difficult to clean. Turn them by hand first to break the sugar molecules, then when you are done I would add 2 inches of water and a drop of soap. Run it for about 20 seconds and rinse. That should help the next time you use it. It also helps to use it daily. It keeps the molecules from hardening.
That wonderful little stick is all you need, I sure love mine! Make sure your Mixing cup is larger than the one supplied and remember to pump up and down vigorously as you blend. Keep swirling the bottom to make sure everything got picked up and blended. You can also make powdered salt,(great for french fries) powdered sugar, Dried garlic can be made into your own freshest garlic powder (great for spaghetti and pizza). peanut butter, apple butter and Whipped cream. I also use mine to make a crazy Jello only treat that tastes like sherbet, ice cream and Jello just by blending Jello and Ice cubes. Then I chill right away after pouring it into small 3 inch glasses.
I think the ice was too hard for a hand blender. I think the impact has caused the blade to separate from the shaft or caused the shaft to separate internally. If your blender is still under warranty you might be able to get it fixed. Note: none of the "Smoothy" recipes in the manual call for ice. One uses ice-cream. One uses "partially thawed frozen strawberries" and one uses sherbet.
Replace the blade assembly immediately. They are available from Cuisinart's website. Sugars and other stuff can gum up the blade assembly over time, so it will periodically need to be replaced. A quick and easy way to keep the blade assembly clean and working longer is to put water and a drop of dishwashing soap in the blender after use and run the blender at low speed for 15-20 seconds - an old Osterizer trick.
From the BAMIX.com website
Mayonnaise
1 egg (or 1 egg yolk)
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of herb vinegar
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
1 ½ - 2 cups of oil
1 teaspoon of french mustard
Put all the ingredients except the oil in a jug (not too large)
and blend well with the WHISK. Then add the oil in a thin, steady
stream (not drop by drop), processing all the time, until the
mayonnaise has reached the required consistency. To achieve perfect
results, all ingredients should be at the same temperature. go back
