'Oregon' chainsaw replacements are available for practically any saw ever made--check with a local saw service shop for help. Unfortunately, the home centers only cater to late model saws which tend to turn stock more rapidly. Hope this helps!

I will wager if you place a protractor on the bar you will find the right and left links are at slightly different angles (one side gets more bite). It only takes a little difference. The usual suspect is the guide on your sharpener. Some grinders require an offset because the wheel is offset more to one side than the other.

Go to Gemplers.com, look up Timber Tuff electric chain saw sharpener, click on it, go to Online Documents tab and you can print off the manual!

If your saw still has the original bar and chain, it was supplied with a .325" pitch chain and you'll need a 3/8" round file with a sharpening guide to properly sharpen it.

Here's a link to the Husqvarna site to the Rancher 455 models so you can select the correct manual to download, that matches your particular saw, based on the year of manufacture, etc.

There is some excellent information about maintaining your saw, along with a really good guide with step-by-step instructions for proper sharpening.
