My Rowenta iron will not heat up. The yellow light just continues to blink- so I know that there is some electrical current. I have a friend with the same issue with the same iron. Is there a trick to this or is this an ongoing problem with the Rowenta Advancer??? When this iron did work, it was the best iron I had ever used.

I have the same problem with mine and it started Saturday. My husband is trying to find ways to fix it himself. Hopefully someone out there can shed some light, cause we spent like 120.00 on the thing.

Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks. The way I fixed it is to hardwire the switch

We had the same problem. Began right after warranty period ran out. Rowenta Canada offered to check on it for about half the price of a new one plus shipping. I think this is poor customer service. Thanks to wizzard8955 I found the issue and resolved it by clamping the contacts above the ceramic pin. The trick was to find the 6th screw and open the iron without breaking anything (hint: at the tip underneath the metal clamp).

I just plugged in my new Rowenta iron for the first time and the red and yellow lights re blinking and it won't heat up.

It is evidently defective. If this was the first use, box it up and send it back for a refund or replacement. Most companies require to issue a return authorization form before shipping it back.

sounds like a loose connection in the power transfer, some piece of metal may be broken or the cord itself may be damaged in some place, you could try replacing the cord. I would just go and buy a new iron. They aren't all that expensive anymore. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope you solve your problem. If you want any further help or have any other questions, please let me know, otherwise have a Good Day.

Contact Rowenta if the yellow and red LED lights start to blink; this indicates an internal electrical failure.

There are over 200 complaints on the consumer affairs website, that include same this problem.

Its better to be safe than sorry.
