There is two sizes of line. I see the large one goes to the large port on the primer button and then to the fuel tank. The small one goes from the primer button to the carb. The problem is there are two hose connections on the carb. I believe one is a vent, but I am not sure what one it is. I have a 36cc 2-cycle model 358.352161

the chainsaw man told us that the upper line on the carb goes to the filter in the tank and the lower connection on the carb isa return that goes to the short connection on the primer bulb. We had trouble with the samr thing.

I've written this guide which shows you how to troubleshoot chainsaw or string trimmer carburetors. See link below.
In general the procedure for identifying the lines is to connect them and make sure the return line in the fuel tank without the filter is above the level of the gas and the line with the filter is submerged. When you push the primer button, gas should flow out of the return line in the tank. If this doesn't happen and air bubbles come out the filter, the lines are incorrectly attached to the ports and must be reversed.

Where to place fuel lines on a craftsman chainsaw model 358.352161?

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/craftsman-358352161-gas-chainsaw-parts-c-158286_172209_172289.html

The above link will take you to www.ereplacementparts.com
They sell all of the parts for your saw. There is also an exploded diagram. I am not sure if it will help you, but it may.

The other place I would try is YouTube. There are many videos on chainsaws.
I hope this helps and god luck with your saw.

Fuel lines on craftsman chain saw

go to the website and see if you can download a manual
most saws have 2 lines fuel in and a return
the fuel in line is the one that goes in the tank and has a filter on it
hold you finger over the fuel line on carb and pull cord, the one that sucks is your fuel in, the one that blows air out is your return

Need diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer bulb and carburator on a Poland chainsaw model 1950 wood shark

There are 7 different types of the 1950 model (types 1 - 7) and it came with one of these 2 carbs Walbro or Zama. The carbs are different as are the fuel line connections for each one.
Although this video is for the promer bulb you can see the routing of the fuel lines.
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/article/4262/How_to_Replace_a_Primer_Bulb.html

You will have one line from the fuel tank connecting to primer bulb the 2nd line going to the carb. If you connect it backward it does not pump fuel into the carb.

Kelly
(FYI Types 1 - 5 all have the same fuel line routing.)

The gas lines on my craftsman chainsaw rotted so i am replacing them but i dont know which goes where

A typical fuel system and a couple of suggestions can be found here:

You can likely find an IPL for your saw here: The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best; components are listed but may be on different illustrations.

Almost all Craftsman chainsaws are made by Poulan. If you provide the engine and bar size I can almost certainly provide a link to the applicable Poulan IPB.

Fuel line can be obtained at any local chainsaw outlet. 12” of any different sizes is probably ample but inquire within. I recommend you take a small sample of each different size.

You can reply below with the numbers or any questions you may have. I hope you found this most helpful.

This is as good as fuel routing gets!!! If this isn't sufficient Find your nearest Poulan repair facility or try your friendly neighborhood chainsaw seller/mechanic. Resubmitting this question won't get any better answer. HTH

I have a 3516 chain saw mod22-600035-18 Mcculloch the fuel lines

I wish I could help. There are no parts available, there are no Exploded parts lists I've found a link to. These are Chinese chainsaws with the McCulloch name. They ARE Chinese chainsaws and I'm disappointed in Mac. Most mechanics won't touch them. We can provide no more help with this saw. Sorry
Lou
Poulan or Craftsman gasoline chainsaws are reasonably inexpensive, parts are available, and given a little TLC perform well.
