All remotes stopped working on genie opener, hardwired wall switch works fine.

  • Anonymous Feb 27, 2009

I fixed it. No I know about the "vacation switch", thanks though. Shouldn't of had to reprogram "ALL" the remots all of a sudden. What I narrowed it down to was the receiver inside the opener. I removed it, got the part # and found a local dealer that had one in stock. Put the new one in, then I had to reporgram all remotes because it's a new receiver. Eveything is good again. $45.00 part. Thanks

Both of my vehicle's remote openers quit working on the same day this last week. The wall button works just fine, I was going to tear into it tomorrow and try and figure out the problem HELP

Your lock on the opener is probably engauged. On the wall control there is a button labeled lock. Press and hold this button for three seconds. Your remotes should work now. If they still do not work, you need to reprogram the remotes. Press the learn button on the back of the motor and then press and hold the remote button. The light will blink once. Repeat this step on the other remotes.

Garage Door Remote

Did you happen to put a new light bulb in it? I put an LED bulb in mine and the interference caused the remotes to stop working. I had a bear figuring it out, because it seemed to be totally random. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't. Once I switched back to an incandescent, it worked fine.

Hi, I have an older garage door opener, Genie

If the opener doesn't work with the button on the wall the opener is defective, either the receiver board or the motor drive circuit or the motor itself.

I have a Sears Model 139.53879 (3-Function Remote Control) garage door opener. It's about 12 years old. The remote controls open the door fine but the remotes do not close the door; it has to be closed...

Sounds like a problem with the safety photocells, to confirm locate the where the safety input is on the opener and bridge out the terminals ( not the supply voltage terminals) if the door then closes the photocells are the problem.

I have a Liftmaster garage door opener & remote. The remote began to work only intermittently. I replaced the battery (I didn't reprogram remote when battery was changed & remote worked for a...

COULD BE A BAD REMOTE, I WOULD TRY ANOTHER ONE FIRST.

COULD BE A FREEZER ETC. PUTTING OUT INTERFERENCE.

OR

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn't work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.

Or a remote in someone

Genie Screwdriver, garage remotes won't work, batteries are fine.

Your receiver has quit working. A call to your local Genie dealer should get you back in business.

Genie remotes stopped working

The receiver can go bad and that would stop all remotes from working. The wall control would still work because it does not use the receiver.

2 different openers stopped working by remote at the same time

Both the older genie and a newer chamberlain (3-4 yrs old) both run on 390Mhz frequency. sounds like you will have to change your receivers on both operators (365LM 315Mhz) then get 3 button remote so you can program both doors on one remote.
