What is your temp in the fridge? Check that your door is closing all the way. You have several air vents along the middle of the back way, are you getting the ice crystals of food right in front of the air vents? If that's the case then that is also the problem. Right in front of the air vents is where air from you freezer enters the fridge. I would start with checking the temp in your fridge though.

how is freeezer side doing? Do u have any frost build up in freezer back wall and is you fan in freezer blowing?

sounds like you may have gotten a refridgerant leak causing a low charge condition. some refridgerators have a evaporator fan if this quit working it will cause it to freeze up .thus the freezer does not use a fan and it will still get cold
SOURCE: ice crystal build up
Sounds like the cold air regulator needs adjusting or is blocked. There should be a lever somewhere near the inside top of the refrigerator whcih slides back and forth -- it should be labeled which direction to move it to make the non-frozen compartment colder or warmer.
Also check for frost buildup in the freezer -- if there is buildup, totally defrost -- there may be ice on the regulator which opens and closes based on temperature.

Hi Rachel,
Opened 3-10 times per day, per week, per month?
There is only one possible source of these ice crystals -- moisture precipitating from the air (condensate) -- this air is coming from outside the freezer. It's either getting in when the freezer is opened or coming in around the gasket.
You might try a very thin coat of vaseline on the gasket to get a better seal.

Your freezer is getting too warm during the defrost cycle, causing condensation in your veggies and eventually freezer burn. Likely your door seals are leaking as well after 17 years which introduces even more humidity into your freezer, but I'm assuming your talking about sealed bags of veggies? You need to decrease the temp in your freezer. Get a thermometer and make sure you average around zero degrees. The cause? When is the last time you cleaned the coils at the back of the fridge. Or if they are sealed, perhaps you need to have it serviced. You can try moving your freezer setting to a colder setting it may take care of the problem.
