Thought it was the opposite: hats help prevent baldness, probably by protecting against sunlight, which damages and ages the skin, from which the hair grows. Hats also hold in moisture as well as oil, beneficial to prevent drying out of the hair follicles. On this subject, hair cream or pomade is also believed to maintain a good head of hair, as evidenced by the ethnic groups who use it.
It's a myth
that wearing a hat will cause you to go bald. However if you wear tight hats
all the time that cause sweating but don't let the pores to breathe or are so
tight that they pull on your hair, it can cause damage or breakage to the hair.
If you wear glasses, turn the brim up on your hat or go for a hat where the brim turns up on one side. Avoid flower-pot style hats as they can be very unflattering when worn with glasses.
You are
really lucky as people will oval shaped faces tend to be able to wear all sorts
of styles. There are no official rules or hat shapes that you have to avoid.
Just try them out and see what you like best.
