Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver Logo

Onkyo TX-SR606 getting no sound from HDMI sources on speakers. I have a motorola cable box and a panasonic DMP BD-35K blueray player both attached to the SR606 via HDMI cables (HDMI3 and 1 respectively) and my TV is connected with an HDMI cable from the HDMI out port. I get video on the TV, but no sound from the Onkyo speakers. Speakers work fine with Tuner, CD player and even VCR player connected to the receiver with composite video and audio - so I know its not the speaker connections. I have assigned the digital audio inputs to each HDMI source as directed in the manual. I know the HDMI is passing sound because I can get sound on the TV speakers when I set Audio TV Out to On. How do I get audio through the receiver to the onkyo speakers?

I also have a similar prolem, I cannot get any sound through my Cab/sat port, but all other ports are working fine, even if I switch the HDMI port to DVD/DVR I am able to hear when watching satellite. This sounds like a fault with the Onkyo

Just brought a VSX-1123-K. No TV HDMI out put. Verified HDMI cables are good. Even a direct BlueRay player does not produce a TV output. Pressing the Home button on the remote does not give a picture either. Using the TV's HDMI input verified that the BLueRay sends at good audio and video signal to the TV. Looks like the HDMI output to the TV is not working. The unit is suppose to have also direct through put.

Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

How do I get sound from my Panasonic SA-AK110 CD stereo system to my Onkyo TX-SR606

Hi Jay Gibson, to be able to send audio from your Panasonic SA-AK110 to the Onkyo TX-SR606, you must use the Panasonic headphone output Connecting a cable with a 3.5 mm stereo mini plug at one end and two RCA at the other
The miniplug to the headphone output, you connect the miniplug and the two RCAs to the Onkio CD input
I suggest you have the volume of the Panasonic at an average level or less, so as not to saturate the Onkio's input
I hope you can hear it
Greetings Franco Dosil

Onkyo TX-SR606 HDMI Input

The problem is the hdmi board in the receiver .they are having trouble with the smd regulator and smd capactors that they are using on the board, they have updated the new boards as i have not got any back when replacing with the new boards. I have replaced at least 35 hdmi boards on this model. If you call Onkyo they will tell you that you have a hdmi board bad and take it to an onkyo dealer.

Onkyo ht-r960

I had the same problem at 1 year after purchase. I was upset. In addition to looking here, I also emailed the company. They took a month to get back to me, but their solution worked perfectly.

"Try resetting the unit by pressing VCR/DVR and the standby/on button at
the same time on the front of the unit while it is turned on. The unit
will display CLEAR and shut down. All settings will be erased. "

All my components connect without any problem now. Hope this helps.

No audio from pc connected using hdmi

Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?

Picture sound blackout (blink) when cable box/receiver HDMI used

Onkyo service told me, the second timethat I called them, that there is a known HDMI handshake issue with Motorola and Atlanta Scientific cable boxes. The only solution, and it was a solution, is to connect the box through the HDMI 1 port ONLY. All the other (2,3,4) result in blinking/dropping of signal. I did this, changed the cable/satelilte setting to HDMI 1 and all is well.

HDMI connection with Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-Ray Disc Player

Try hooking the Panasonic up straight to the tv without going through the receiver. If it displays a picture its obviously not the blu-ray player. May also be a problem with the HDMI cable itself. Hope this helps.

What Blu Ray to buy for ONKYO TX-NR801 for Dolby TrueHD, etc???

Hi, as the Onkyo receiver you have does not have HDMI switching, the only thing it will do for you with a Blu-Ray player is process the audio signals.  The video from the BR player will have to go directly to an HDMI input of your hi def TV.  In this case, either Sony or Panasonic BR player will be equal.  Assuming you keep the Onkyo unit you have, you would want to use the optical digital output from the BR player as the audio source into one of the optical, digital audio inputs on the Onkyo.  In an ideal world, your receiver would some that does do HDMI switching.  This way, all the audio and video signals from any audio or video source would be automatically switched and channeled through 1 simple HDMI cable into your hi def TV.  This will make you life simpler as ther would be no need to select an appropriate input on the TV, as well as one on the receiver.  That said, buying a new receiver in addition to a BR player is more costly.  Good luck.  Let us know how it goes.
