I have a 1977 Ford F-100 400m in it (newer motor) 4x4. When I'm driving down the road, if I hit a small bump it feels as if the front end wants to bounce. When I hit a good size bump the front end seriously feels as if it's hopping up and down. wheels shaking and turning rigeriously. I cross rail road tracks everyday and thats where it does it for me. It happened to me once before I took off my 35s I had on and put 235 75 15s back on, and replaced front shocks. Thinking a tire had water in it. Stopped bouncing. Now a year later same probably but a lot more harder. I had the stocks from an 78 f100 with my other motor. So they are used. (getting new) but I've never heard of anyone having this problem before. When it starts bouncing I have to slow down below 20 mph to get it to stop. If I continue the same speed I don't know how long it'll go for or if I speed up seems to get worse. It'll even bounce with my 7.5 foot plow on the front of it. I want to go through and buy new shocks and bal joints and tie rod ends. Also big key when I turn the wheel my front end moves over side to side. (left body moves right) Probably has something to do with it! I havn't looked at it yet, car still in shop and no time yet.
Have you cked the bushing lower and upper

This is most likly a low RR tire. Check the tire pressure first. If that is OK, I would slowly drive to somone qualified to examine the rear suspention to see what might have broken.

The alinement is out. Check balljoint's and track-rod end's.Check these part's replace faulty part's and get it alined after.Cheer's

relace your shocks. the design of any dampner(strut or shock design) is to return the wheel to the road for handling and safety. when the shock is worn out is with continue to bounce like a basketball. it has no more strength to return to wheel to the road. a common misconception is that they are there to absorb, not true. the springs or torsion bars are there to absorb and create ride height. the shock does nothing more then return the wheel to the road. simple and inexpensive.

Your friend is right.Those are two things that should be checked. If your tires are in good shape,you might also try rotating them.
