Can you hear the pump run when you turn the switch on? If so, you have installed the pump correctly.
There could be an air lock...... there should be a handle somewhere for a manual pump you can loosen a fuel line connection and pump until the bubbles stop and all fuel comes out.

The only thing i can think of is BAD earthing... OR bad contacts at the battery end, OR bad joints, in the wiring OR Too much current being delivered for some reason. maybe faulty alternator? OR bad earth on whole system. OR somehow the motor is being contaminated, by liquid ingress?
