We just bought a house with an old Hotpoint Dishwasher Model # HDA467, Serial # TZ611315X. I know there was a recall years ago, can we still qualify for it? We won't be using this dishwasher.

If the dishwasher drains through the vent pipe on your sink it may be clogged. I had that problem as well. Unscrew the vent cap and look for junk. In my case of all things it was dog hair!!

A noise could be created by something getting down into the motor-pump assembly piece of glass, piece of bone, wire tie anything really. If this is the case and you can remove it before it causes further damage problem solved. At ten years old the problem may be the motor and or pump one thing to consider before putting money into it is disheashers average 7-10 years these days. Good Luck.

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER on the appliance. This dishwasher was manufactured by Whirlpool. The following link explains how to determine when it was manufactured:

The serial number is usually located somewhere around the door opening. The first two numbers in the serial number identify the WEEK it was manufactured (52 weeks in a year). The second DIGIT in the serial represents the YEAR it was manufactured.

Yes if this can solve and if you are happy otherwise with the washer then there is no need to get the swap. If the cleaning with vinegar wont help , it will be better to have it checked to take advantage of the free call , if not after a period of time the company will not take responsibility.
