this depends on your components, what brand is your motherboard for example?, if it is Gigabyte, then go to www.gigabyte.com, may i suggest a program?
Everest Free will let you look at your computers components down to the name of what you need to look for, if you need something more in-depth, may i suggest Everest Ultimate?
example of a component name: NetExtreme 8100 - Ethernet Controller
Sorry, but if I read your post correctly, there are no "downgrade" instructions for going from Windows Vista to XP SP2. The only way back is to totally reformat the drive and reinstall XP SP2.

Well yes you can install windows xp without the FDD. But it will be best to first gather all the XP compatible drivers for your Acer Aspire T650 at this link http://global.acer.com/support/index.htm before beginning to downgrade your operating system, burn all your XP drivers into a Disk backup your personal file. Then you can begin the installation.
I think you want to change the operating system from vista to xp, simply re-install xp operating system and it will work but before doing that do check if your model supports xp or not...if it does then you can check for the driver from www.acerpanam.com
