TV turned off itself and timer light (red) keeps blinking

JVC AV-35750 35" TV will not turn on. The timer light keeps blinking. Unplugged it overnight but it still happens. Is this worth saving? Is there a reset button somewhere for the timer?

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Blinking Timer Button

The tv must of turned on the timer by itself. They do do that sometimes. I suggest leaving it unplugged for 24 hours to reset itself.
If problem persists, you may be able to go to your menu and access the sleep mode timer and set it to 0:00 or OFF

Tv shutting off timer light blinking

The problem you describe is not really related to a timer function being set. The unit is in shutdown and the light is blinkng to let you know there is a problem.
There are several possible causes. the most common is a failure in the vertical deflection circuit due to a bad vertical IC and possibly a capacitor, zener diode and resistor.

JVC TV AV-32870 will not turn on. blinking timer light

Worth taking it in since it is hard to find a new TV for less than $300. I have a 32 inch JVC iart that for about 2 years would turn itself off and the timer light would blink. Only thing that worked would be to disconnect and turn back on. Eventually, the tv "popped" I could smell something that burned out and within 3 weeks tv went "dead" Took it to a tv repair place and replaced power unit for $150. I had similar problem with a 19 inch Philips and that tv has been going strong for 4 years since repair.

Good Luck

JVC tv i'art blinking timer

It is protecting you and itself with high probability.
Power supplies in modern electronic devices are designed to cycle if there is a fault in circuitry they are servicing and because of the design, also will not turn on completely if they are failing.

The older style of power supply was 'dumb' and unable to do this so could cause fires if the failure wasn't teh 'right' kind to blow the main fuse.

I agree with the manual; this is a job for a tech.

Television want turn on

In a large number of failures with these symptoms it's usually the HOT (horiz. output trans. Q522, which is a 2sd2499) and the regulator (Str30134), together with fuse F902 (Gma 1.25a). Not an expensive repair or that complicated if you're fairly good with electronics and know how to solder correctly. Otherwise take it in and have it repaired professionally - it's worth it...

probably some cold solder joints. take your time and check over whole circuit board and re-solder what looks bad.
