It looks like the silver handle is pushed onto the black plastic insert, which must be removed from the handle, fixed to the door and then the handle reattached.
...just to clarify, looking at the manual the bit with the screw in has to be removed, then fixed to the door (use some epoxy resin glue or gripfill in the hole if the thread in the door is ruined and allow the screw to set in that before pushing the handle back on (complete with black plastic insert)
Thanks. That's what I think to since every similar freezers mention that their handles slide out. But I can't figure out how to remove the black plastic piece ...
Got the mechanic: there is a whole in the stainless steel part where you need to insert an Allen key to release the screw, insert it back in the whole and tighten with the Allen key. Thanks for your help!!

The handle covers can be slid off straight up for the top one and straight down for the bottom one you'll get some resistance but they will go.
