Above is a link to P5KC's manual.

Search (with ctrl+f) for 'front panel audio' and you'll find pictures how to connect front panel functions (like reset, audio etc).

After you have connected frontpanel audio connectors correctly and there is still no sound coming out of your audio device, you need to change front panel type from bios.

Reboot your pc to bios (press del on bootup to enter bios).

You will find 'Front panel type' item in bios. Change it from 'HD Audio' which is default, to AC'97 and save changes you made and exit from bios. After you do that your computer should reboot and audios work fine from front panel if you dont have anything muted.

any manual will be at SONY, this mobo is a contract made.
Asus, to sony, and made to SONY SPEC.

no service manuals sorry or gee ask SONY.
what you do is plug in the front panel connector.
it is keyed
but you lost the front panel assembly didn't you.?
why play P4 relics, 99% are in the landfill.

it is possible that asus used there standard(internal) wiring
here and only changed like 3 times in 20 years.
2003 made PC, it is, a true fossil.
or ask the bad boy that sold it to you.
did you also lose the sony VAIO PC casing?
sorry i can't see it to know know what's UP DOC.

here it is sold just like this, rs346
the panel has 6 , cables and are not documented
they simply plug in. (lost this did you? ) use the word lost or?

sony-undefined-undefined-0_0.jpg this is the real part, had to search very old sales transactions.
but there it is in all its relic glory. worth exactly zero.$

Plugigng of wire in board

Hello there,

Below is an image of *********** Board with number indication and wiring explanation. From your manual page 1-6 you can see the image below and 1-7 for the connector, jumpers, slots. as indicated in your problem I will only answer problems related to the wirings.

  • For the Front Panel

pcsyke_117.jpg
1. There are 8 wires from the front panel's casing, excluding USB connectors and front audio cable.

2. Just plug the front panel switch headers to the F_Panel main board connectors. 1 & 2 are positive, if the led do not light change polarity but Im sure it will.

Note:The mainboard provides a front panel connector for electrical connection to the front panel switches and LEDs. JFP1 is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide.

  • For the USB connectors

pcsyke_118.jpg

1. If your casing has a USB header on the front bezel you can put it on any connector. You can also purchase a USB module cable or an internal card reader and plug the headers to any of those connectors.

Note: Observe Polarity, do this Vcc, -Data, +Data, Gnd ,(NC) ground is always near to NC.

Plug it at your own risk, reference image are already shown.

  • Front Panel Audio connectors

pcsyke_119.jpg
1. Look for FP_Audio header from your casing and plug it to the connector.

*Asus recommend you connect a high definition front panel audio module to this connector to avail of the motherboard's high-definition audio capability.

Hopefully this information helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have an Asus P4P800MX/S motherboard I got on Ebay. It came with no manual. The front panel connector is a 10 pin connection on the motherboard but the manuals I got from Asus state they are all a 20 pin...

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/444313/Asus-P4p800-Mx.html?page=38#manual

Page 38 is the front panel 20 pin connectors; if you have a 10 pin, you don't have that model. I would search the manual I linked to for the motherboard picture so you can determine what the 10 pin really is.

W3507motherboard front panel connections

The manual is Here:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce2/a7n8x-e/e1876_a7n8x-e_deluxe.pdf

However, wires to the case are specified by the case maker (you did not specify). Just about all of them mark the connectors on the wire ends with their functions. Just match with the manual's jumper description.
