I have a 99 suburban GMC454 it is always ran very well until I let it sit for a while and the battery died I just replace a starter a month prior to the battery dying we had a cold snap so I took my other truck to my GMC to jump start it and the battery was very dead it took a long time to get the GMC to even turn over and when I finally got it to 20 minutes later it just turned over and almost like internal backfire so I let it sit on the jump longer and trying again and again and it would not start so I gave up the next day I went out and try to start it after sitting on a battery charger all night and it just grinded so I looked under at the starter and the starter had cracked and the part that goes into the bell housing broke off so I took that out replaced it with a brand new non rebuild starter replaced the battery with the biggest 1 I could put in there a 1000 cold cranking amps and now I still have the same problem it will turn over but it's sounds like it has and internal maybe backfire it turns over fine for second and then its goes to a put put then it will turn over again fine and putt putt so I seem to have fuel I seem to have ignition could I have messed something up by jump starting it direct battery to battery if you have any suggestions please respond thank you

You may have internal engine damage . broken cam or can.. try to turn the engine manually with a wrench to see if there is any problem while rotate it. In the cold weather when you start engine especially been sitting for too long, engine part need to be lubricated fast otherwise damage it will occur. check and smell the engine oil for strange condition

SOURCE: Truck won't start, when ignition turned console lights up but everything else is silent

Sounds like the neutral safety switch may be faulty. try putting the shifter in neutral, then attempt to start it again. If this doesn't work, try holding the key in the position as you would to start the engine while moving the gear shifter back nad forth perhaps youl'll then hear , at some point, the starter engage...

SOURCE: 87 f250 drained brand new battery

I would first have the alternator checked by an auto electrician to ensure it is working correctly and is providing the correct volume of current. It may be faulty and when driving you will be drawing battery power instead of power from the alternator to run the electrics. This will drain the battery.

Alternators do not last forever and if you are still running the original unit it is likely to be on it's last legs and you will need a replacement unit.

You have ONE Option ONLY

The thing you needed months ago

A WIRING DIAGRAM

Until you learn how to read a wiring diagram
& can logically figure out exactly the only thing
that could cause such a problem, you can't even
start any on vehicle examination or testing to correct

2002 Suburban clicks when trying to start.

Yes it could be your starter the fact that you hear the click tells you that the starter solenoid is in fact working. Do check your connections for looseness or corrosion prior to starter replacement and fix as needed. Possibly has a dead spot on the starter that won't allow starter motor to turn even though the solenoid engages.

I have a 99 suburban just replaced the dis cap rotor plugs wires fuel pump fuel filter fuel relay. It ran great after all this then it will start running rough and die if i let it sit for awhile it will...

Hi, I believe you hit the nail on the head. Black stuff in the filter Meaning that there is something in the tank. You have to drop the tank and clean it out. Good luck.

97 Merc Grand Marquis wont turn over after sitting for the winter. Battery is good. Ran great until sitting for 2 months.

The starter is probably just hung up, I would recommend that you gently tap on it with a rubber mallet, or the wooden end of a hammer.

My 1999 chevy suburban won't start

Welcome. The ignition switch is not the part that has the sensor for the security, it is the housing for the switch and key cylinder that does. If the switch was indeed the part that was replaced, then it was the wrong item in my opinion. Does the security light always come on when it will not start?
IF so then do the RESET procedure.....

99 fire bird wont start

Sounds like the fuel pump is bad. You need to test fuel pressure. I can tell you the fuel pressure spec, but what year is it 89 or 99? And what engine?
