Align the magnet on motor support. Put it a litle closer to the board.
The imbalance sensor sends a signal directly proportional to the intensity of the magnetic field strengh from magnet. Pop off the display board and locate pin 12 of 8AF C515C microcontroller, its an A/D input, reading the imbalance sensor voltage. If the voltage on it goes below 1,5 Volts, it latchs on imbalance or error 2. The correct setting point is with motor stopped, if you shake manually the motor you have errror 2. Otherwise not.

Error 2 in 5417R,how do i solve it?thanks

Error 2 on this model indicates that the imbalance sensor is tripped. If you run the unit with an empty rotor and it does not error, then it simply means that your load was imbalanced. Make sure to put vials into the unit opposite each other, as below.

If it displays "Error 2" with an empty rotor and you did not notice a vibration, then the imbalance sensor is broken and must be replaced. Do not attempt to run the centrifuge without the imbalance sensor, as serious injury may result.

I repair these machines, but you would have to ship it to me in Ohio, which would probably be very expensive.

Here is a rotor balance chart:

5402 error 2

Dear Sir,

In a 5402 Eppendorf Centrifuge, Error 1 states primarily for an EEPROM error. EEPROM is a tiny memory chip that stores individual details of the centrifuge, mainly the microprocessor time base (for correct time set operations), the mains voltage (115 or 230 V, to inform and set the motor current levels), and the imbalance level adjustment for the imbalance sensor. When the centrifuge powers up, these data are readen, and if all OK, the centrifuge is ready to go. If one of them corrupts, especially the 115 or 230 Volt information, we get error 1 and no start allowed.
To check and reprogram this EEPROM we have to acess the service routine. This is done by by jumping together pins 1 and 5 of X8 conector, on the base of the electronic board, located behind the power cable panel in the back of the centrifuge. There are about 20 setting or check parameters, but usually 1 or 2 of the described above need to be reprogrammed. Please e-mail me for details: [email protected].

Error 2 is Motor Tach (Speed sensor) error, caused usually if the cable pops off the electronic board. But the tach sensor itself, who stays in the bottom of the motor drive, could be broken or defective.

I am getting an error 16 code on my Refrigerated Centrifuge Eppendorf 5702R

I fixed many of the Eppendorf 5702R with Error 16. It is caused by failure in the main frequency converter PCB. In every case, the failing component was different from the other. You will have to test it and replace few compartments. In simple, Error 16 means failure in communication between the control and frequency converter PCB's. Any failure in the main PCB that results in lower voltage will cause that error. I hope I have a simpler answer. i can help if you contact me.

My centrifuge 5702 rotor mentions error 3

The Eppendorf manual states that Error 3 means that there was an anomaly in the speed sensing system. The corrective action is to leave the power on with the centrifuge not spinning for several minutes and the error should clear itself.

If the error persists, then the speed sensor is probably damaged, and the unit will need to be serviced by a qualified technician.
