Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5KPL-AM%20SE&p=1&s=22

This should not be a problem.

A new bigger power supply, is always better than the factory one.
This will give more stability.
Try to buy a well known brand, like corsair.

Good luck

Is there a protection mode for this lcd visio tv that can be removed for this tv to come on ?

Hello Donald the first thing I would like to Know what the model number of your TV is. But that's ok if you have a external power supply you could try this .Make Shure your TV is not pug In to the Ac outlet. We are going to see if you have a short or a load on your 12v line. Ok you wont to unplug the 12v source from the power supply board. Fine out what pin is the 12v's. Connect your external power source to that pin, apply the 12v and see if it is drawing to much current. If so check the boards for any very hot items. If you have a problem on the 12v line. This will find the part that is loading it down. This is the old way of finding a load on a power source. I hope this will help some. P.S make Shure there is no AC connect to the TV as you do this test and you have the plug off of the power supply board before using the external power source.

Digital Sprite 2 screen freezes, reboot good for a few hours then freezes again.

check the system fans they need changing every 2 years. check the hard drive-s are not over heating should be changed every 4 years. check the psu is giving out the right volts can be checked on the hard drive plug when system is plugged in if voltage is to low 12.83v is fine 5.8volts is fine under the 12v or 5v mark it makes the system crash freeze up or just the red light flashing and a buzzing sound coming from the system. psu if you don't hear a fan going round then the psu has over heated and the power coming out will have dropped. replacement capacitors and fan can be found on the bay cheap make note were they are and replace. fan is a bearing type and costs a bit more. can use a none bearing type but it will need changing every year. 12v type think it was a 30mm or 40mm type.

While computer's working, fumes come out. PSU is replaced. However the floppy power connector is plugged onto system fan pins! on the mobo. That means ground-12V power-ground sense-ground ...

The PSU has some overload protection but not the Mobo power buss. If you were lucky, you only shorted the PSU 12/5 volt output to the Mobo ground which took out the PSU. BUT if the PC will not start-up the 12V power buss on the Mobo was probably damaged as a result of accidentally grounding it with the fan plug.

It's impossible to identify which logic has been damaged without a schematic, and even if you had one, you would need specialized tools and parts to repair the board. Sorry, but the days of repairing these kinds of components are long gone.

Turned off, would not come back on the next morning, opened up and cpu heat sink and fan totally clogged with dust. Cleaned all dust out with vac and tooth brush, and then with compress air in a can from...

old old pc, super old. and packed up.
s/w (software?) im sure you ment the physical hardware switch.
not the windows start, shutdown soft switch.
so, that means the mobo cables fell off from the front panel to the switch.
The switch tells the mobo to turn off,
the the mobo, south bridge chip(if it has power) tells the PSU to turn off, and does.
wow a radioshack still open ,id take a photo.... for old times sake.

the PSU new before fail or after? you did not say.
no display tells me , no power.
fans on tells you only 12vdc is ok, not the other 6-8 rail voltages, ever. and regs,/
used PSU or new.
what PSM make and model.
I ask that because there are ATX an ATX2 versions
the old version is missing a key cable on newer PC
the PC with video and OR, cup power aux jacks.
let me look up your mobo now.
carbon dated at year 2006, old but not relic yet,
Athlon 64 X2 ( most are how in the trash)
ASUS MOBO, A8M2N-LA
windows XP the dead OS and now virus magnet.
only 1 express slot, x16,,,

im looking on a mobo now for sale, and same number above
and it does have 4 pin CPU aux power jack,
if not connected, there is no changes, at all of working'

ill assume the xpress slot is empty, no Geforce GFX750 there, LOL.. overloading that slot to... and its aux jack missing too...

if i had the data on your new PSU i could wax smarter...

see red arrow, and 4 pin , 12v aux jack, the PSU connects here.
and the 24 pin on rear side of mobo. both.
