GPS X3-03 is frozen.

My GPS is frozen on the start up Screen. I've pushed the reset button, but all it does is go off, than come back on again. I used my GPS 3 times. I've never droped it, One time it did slide off the dash board onto the floor in front of the driver. It said: "Searching for Satelite, but after if find the Satelite again, it started working. I got to my destination and turned it off. The next time I turned it on, it showed a picture of a power plug, so I thought that I needed to charge it, The Charge bar has not moved in 2 days, and it is not fully charged. (I wonder if it is taking charge) I've unplugged it, and tried turning it off, but the screen is still on the Opening page, (the one with the World and the Satelite pictures and it say GPS Turn by Turn Navigation System) If you could help I'd surely appreciate it. The GPS was a gift for Christmas, and I'm told not to take it back to the Store. I can't call Nextar on the weekends, and I need my GPS by Tuesday of next week which is Feb 3, 2009. If for some reason you cannot help me in this short of time, I will just have to rely on Mapquest.

Let's try again. I have no ideal where my first comment went. After my GPS got stuck on the start up Screen. I placed it back in the bag and did not use it for two weeks. When I took it out, the screen was off;(somewhere in that two week the screen went off) I thought I would try again. I pushed the power button on and could not get the GPS to come on. I thought that maybe after not being used for a while it needed to be recharged. When I plugged it in, the start up screen came on. It has been charging for more than 8 hours and the bar has not moved. I unplugged it and again, my GPS got stuck on the Start up Screen. I tried the advice given to me by Praky 16, posted 2/9/09, but it did not work. (Thanks for trying) I need your help again. Do I need a new battery? Why does it get stuck on the Start up Screen. Why is the bar across the bottom of the GPS not moving when I charge it?

You are going to have to reload the firmware, which you can do at the Nextar website. I do not believe that you are having a battery issue because you are able to power up, just not getting past the power up/startup stage. The only issue would be trying to figure out which version you originally had. This should be no problem though if you can get the GPS to download the firmware you can update to the newest version once you get it working. After you download the new firmware your GPS should restart itself, but you may have to reset it before start up. Hope this all helps. Just respond if you need further assistance.

Is it plugged into anything, like a power supply or computer?

My Garmin GPS does nothing while it is plugged in, and acts like you describe. Once unplugged, it powers up normal, although you must enter the password if enabled.

Garmin Nuvi Screen is frozen

I am not sure which model you have but all Garmins have reset button on the units, it is usually located on the bottom or lower back usually by the serial number and on the newest models it is under the serial number label. Once you find it, gently push and hold it with your finger tip or a paper clip for a few seconds and the unit will go thru a reboot and should start working again. Thanks for using FixYa

Get frozen old the time my gps garmin 660

if its frozen to the point that it will not turn off, lift the external antenna and push the reset button, then start it up again and see if its ok. if not

make sure its has a good charge, plug it in to the usb port2.gif on your computer for a few hours.

if that fails, try a reset

note: the master reset will erase all your saved data

with the unit off,and unplugged, try pressing and holding your finger on the low right corner of the screen and slide the power switch to the on position until you see the message "confirm if you really want to delete all user data?" hit yes and let it restart. then it will set up the nuvi again, so follow the prompts.

hook up the nuvi to the web updater and get the latest update

you can get the Web Updater HERE

Frozen screen

If you have an SD card in try removing that before you power up.

You may also want to try the hard reset.
Paper clip in the tiny hole by the card slot.

Push it in firmly whilst the unit is powered up (not too hard) for about 3 seconds then release
You may have to power down and then up again and even hold down the power button a little longer the first time you do this

Touch Screen on my Garmin doesn't work

I believe simply pushing the reset button will fix your problem. The reset is located under the frame around the screen. To remove the frame, use your finger nail to carefully lift it off the screen. Then just push the reset button and you should be back in business.

please rate my answer as a fixya! Thanks.

Tom Tom go 910 screen get frozen every time I turn it on

Sounds like your firmware is corrupted. I have fixed a few 910's with this same problem. If you have the Tom Tom Home program installed, try to reinstall the firmware using Tom Tom's website.

Make sure you always select to disconnect the device before unplugging it. You might have unplugged it from the PC while it was still writing data. This will certainly corrupt the firmware.
