Toro riding mower/chain adjustment

I have an older toro riding mower. The chain has streched. Is there a chain adjustment or do I have to take off the chain and take out a link.. I noticed on the rear axle there is some type of screw adjustment but do not know if its for the chain adjustment.

please help.

There is an adjustment for the chain. There is a sproket that you can loosen and adjust. You should be able to get it from the outside of the machine. Should be a 1/2in or 9/16in nut.

The sprocket should be on the inside of the machine's frame. Which ever side the chain is on. You will have to look up from the bottom to side under the machine.

Pto won't ingadge

If it is a cable PTO which operates from a handle there are two types I've worked on. one has not adjustment, the other has a spring which can be moved to compensate for streching of the mowing deck belt. If your mower has no adjustment than more tham likely it is the belt.

If we are just talking about nuts and bolts, get what you need at the hardware store. If what you require are particular Toro parts, go to www.toro.com/parts
