ICE DOOR WILL NOT LET ICE FALL DOWN CHUTE,

REPLACED ICE DOOR FLAP BUT SEEMS TO BE STICKING BECAUSE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WHEN ICE IS DISPENSING.
COULD THIS BE BECAUSE OF TOO MUCH TENSION ON SPRING THAT HOLDS ICE DOOR, OR DOES ICE DOOR OPEN ELECTRONICALLY?

The ice door has a solenoid that opens and closes the ice door. since you were able to replae the door i assume you can take it apart pull it back apart and the crank the door attaches too is connected on 1 side to an electrical soleiod test if the plunger moves up and down freely. also look for heat deformation around the plastic as well. if it turns out the solenoid is bad i would also recomend replacing the the fountain boards as well. I dont think you can put to much tension on the spring..

Our new 48" Viking side by side does not feed ice cubes adequately. If you need several glasses of cubes it stops feeding and when one opens the freezer door they are piled up and fall all over the floor....

I experienced the same problem several times with our VCSB483DSS also.

What I found was that the ice come down the chute side way and got stuck at the flap in the door. As you continue to press for ice, the machine pushes more ice & they all back up in side the chute and in the door, ready to dump on unsuspecting person who open the freezer door.

I think the the problems are:
1 - over application of foam insulation in the chute pathway in the door.
2 - possible bad timing on the flap opening causing the falling ice to get stuck.

My solution for the past 6 years:
1 - clean out the over application of foam insulation - this reduce the incident frequency from once a month to once or twice a year.
2 - inform my family member that if while you pressed for ice, and the ice is not dropping, but you hear the motor still cranking away, stop pressing for ice immediately. Stick you finger up the dispenser to make sure the flap is open, and push the ice to un-stuck them. And finally, be prepare to get 2 cups full of ice.

Viking may make professional quality fridge (13 years experience in restaurant business), but ice & water dispenser is not their strong point.

The ice flap in the door does not open when ice falls down the chute

The door is opened by a electrical solonoid, not by the ice itself. This solonid gets corroded due to moisture, To axcess the solonoid remove water tray remove three torx screws removing trim panel, remove 3 more torx screw holding dispenser module to freezer door two on either sides and one by paddle. Maytag has a kit called a fountain door kit that has everything to rebuild the ice door system,

Bottom of ice maker/dispenser frosting over

Open the freezer door and look down the ice chute while you shine a flashlite up the dispenser cute from the outside. If you see light around the chute door, it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism. The problem you describe is almost always air leakage around that flap.

GE Icemaker flap door won't open causes ice jam in chute

There is an electric solenoid that opens the door. If you look up inside the dispenser you can see the solenoid. Either the solenoid is bad or the dispenser module that puts power to it is out. You will need to remove dispenser front and check for voltage to solenoid. If you have power from module, replace solenoid, if no power, replace both parts. It is common for solenoid to short out and damage the module so that both must be replaced. If solenoid is shorted and you replace module, new part will fry.
