You need to apply thermal paste on the CPU so it makes proper thermal contact with the heatsink and fan assembly.

I already put the thermal paste on the CPU but the temperature did not decrease. It is on power saving mode and the temperature still reaches 75c. I need help asap.

  • Anonymous Jan 28, 2013

Check the CPU fan on the heat sink. If it is faulty then replace the fan.

  • Anonymous Jan 29, 2013

How do i check whether it is faulty or not?

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2013

If the fan does not spin freely or at all then it is faulty.

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2013

If there is too much dust in the case will the CPU overheat?

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2013

Yes because the dust can move and clog the heatsink.

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2013

But it is a new heatsink.

I found out that my PSU fan was not working. Since its warranty expired i opened it and replaced the old fan 12V 0.12A with a new one 12V 0.13A. Then i reapplied the thermal paste. But when i turned it on the computer boots up then at the Desktop. It turns itself off. I really need help!

The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.

Thanks I just found that the processor was damaged. I replaced it with a new and faster one. Then the CPU temperature decreased to 35c.

My motherboard keeps on overheating @ 70C and over plz what must i do?

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

If the overheating is not due to hardware issue, faulty components, you can control the temperature by using Heat sinks and Temperature controlling fans, and by regulating a proper Air flow to the unit. For this, you can also use Cooler Master casing specially designed for high end purposes, or can use any such available brand to control the temperature...

Why my asus p5kpl am se motherboard hanged after 10 mintues? Processor 2.8 celeron & Ram1 gb ddr2 800

It's difiicult to diagnose your problem, because It can be produced by a lot of circumstances. Update your drivers with the official asus drivers. You can download it from here-also update your bios-:
http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=p5kpl
First of all check the memory ram, download memtest from here:
http://www.memtest86.com/
Run that program to verify if the memory is ok. The next step should be a temperature test. Maybe your system gets overheat, hanging after a critical temperature. Run Prime95, you can download it from here:
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103
Run prime95 for 5 minutes, if your system hangs up during that time, your problem is the temperature-check the fans are running and clean the computer.
If the problem persists, you motherboard should be replaced.

I updated the bios of my ASUS P5KPL-AM SE motherboard. after the update, the system restarted and it cannot boot anymore!! the CPU fan turns on but nothing is displayed on the monitor.. how do i fix this?...

your bios driver is likely to be faulty.
so download a valid driver then update your bios again.
if it doesn't work, intercept all of cables of your PC case and even power cable of your monitor.
evolve battery of bios then wait for 15 minutes then connect all of cables and try turning on your pc:
1- with battrey of bios
2- without battery of bios
it should work.

How can i disable chassis intrusion on p5kpl-am se board? the board don't have any intrusion switch...

For the chassis intrusion circuit to work, the chassis power supply must be connected to AC power. By default, on the motherboard the pin labeled chassis "signal" and "ground" are shorted with a jumper cap. You need to remove the jumper caps if you intend to use the chassis intrusion
hope this helps

Chassis intruded... fatal error.. system halt..

If your case is not setup for chassis intrusion, the motherboard has dropped a jumper.
The location is by the last PCI slot between the CD audio connector and the USB bus plug. (it is right next to the CLRTC jumpers)

Good luck
