I have an LG VCR/DVD unit model RC389H purchased in 2010 When I try to play a DVD from France (Region2) I get the message "Incorrect region code. Can't play back" There doesn't seem to be a...

Take a look at the back of the unit. You'll either have one of these: captainhawk1.gifcaptainhawk1_0.gif(You may have another number)
Or one of these: captainhawk1_1.gif (or the oblong version... I just couldn't find one of those)
If you've got one of those little globes with the number on the back of it, you have a region locked DVD player and what that means is that the seller is selling locked DVD players and using a hack to get into the system and change the region code. They just did a sloppy job. What caught my attention is the fact that this is PAL Dvd Player and you need a separate NTSC converter to play on use television. A true ALL Region DVD player would also have be able to play both PAL and NTSC without the need for a converter as it is built-in already.
DVD's are not only made with region codes they are also made based on the analog standard for the region they are sold in. The US uses NTSC, Europe uses the PAL standard and what that means is that it's a different technology to broadcast the signal onto the screen. The US has been using NTSC since the 1940's, I'm not really sure about PAL. Take a look the back of a US DVD case and you'll notice atthe bottom it will say NTSC.
Since ALL Region players are obviously more desirable and therefore a true ALL Region player would be more expensive, it has become a common practice for sellers to get the region locked-players from gray market sources in Asia and use hacks to make them ALL Region but as noted it still doesn't solve the issue of the analog standard so you ahve to get yourself a converter. Think about it: what would be the point of LG making an All Region player that couldn't broadcast both analog standards?
Now, if you do have a globe with an ALL on it, then you have a true all region player and shouldn't have an issue on an NTSC television, but on the other and, it wouldn't play Region 2, so you obviously have a problem. So, either you got completely scammed or you have a true ALL Region player that is defective. Either way, I'd return the thing.

This is happening because your DVD is NOT all region, you need to change the Code.

Anyone got the code for changing the area code for a LG RC389H video combo unit

If you mean to play DVD’s that you may have purchased in another country the see below

For that you need to do a Google for "mymodel region free" or "region free hack"

Not all DVD players are capable of this often very simple modification that many manufacturers build into DVD player. (Usually just involves the remote control and a combination of keys)

Your search will turn up a lot of sharks that want money for the hack (fix)

IGNORE THEM

There are a lot of sites where the information is free.

If after opening up the region free parameter you still have issues and you still want to play your dvd's from around the world you might want to consider another one

I am STILL (lauren) unsure of FIXYA's policy on this topic and am awaiting further clarification on the issue with regards to handing out these codes as this is not HACKING in the same sense as pirate software etc. it is just enabling an extra feature that the manufacturer provided.
I would prefer not to get my @ss kicked. That is why I can only give you the search terms rather than site links or specific information

Trying to play dvd but says wrong region soneynhv-dx350ab?

Hi, if its saying wrong region. then either your player or disk is incompatable. region 1 ntsc ( USA ) Region 2 ( UK ) et,c. check your players region coding is compatable for your country, and that you are also playing a dvd with the same region coding as the player. alternatively is to try and find a region free or multi-region solution. * Enter the region code (0 for region free, or 1-6).
* Press PAUSE

* Turn the player back on
