Most of the time, my Sony Vaio VPCEE23FX will not boot the first 20ish times I try. Also, the backlight on the display turns off. What is wrong with my computer?

When I turn on the computer, I usually have to force power off the computer and turn it on again over and over until it finally turns on. Then, once it does turn on, it works fine other that the times the display backlight often turns off. I know its the backlight because I can still see the image on the LCD. I don't know what is wrong, but I have heard this is a common problem with this model of computer. What is the problem, and what can I do to fix it?

you want to be looking for the rtc(real time clock) which is a little unit not much bigger than ur thumb nail.next to it youll find the battery(sometimes heat sealed with plastic.)if you remove this battery for about 5 mins then replace it or in ur case maybe renew it this will reset bios to factory(also method for bypass passwords as every thing is reset)

SOURCE: Sony VAIO VGN-FJ3M/W does not boot.

Possible hard disk failure or hard disk controller failure.
if you feel confident remove the hard disk and replace - obviosuly make sure that there is not power running and remove the battery - replace hard disk then battery then power and try again.

Do you get any beeps? is the hard disk clicking? listen carefully to it and post your findings.

SOURCE: Sony Vaio VGN-N250E/W Not Booting/Responding

Take the battery and power supply out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will reset your hardware settings. Your backup battery isnt your problem. Does your battery light turn on when charging? Does your keyboard lights light up when it runs for a second (try pressing caps lock)?

SOURCE: display flickers on boot. then goes black

Before making any decision on whether it's a hardware failure, please try and boot from a CD or DVD (recovery disc). If it does successfully boot from an external disc - and there is no flickering problem, then the hardware parts are okay. In that case, please go to this link: http://lifehacker.com/5413223/how-to-fix-your-relatives-terrible-computer?skyline=true&s=x for more information on what to do when you can't enter into your operating system and how to fix malwares that might be causing the flickering. If you find my ideas satisfactory, please do rate me. Thanks

SOURCE: I have sony vaio vgn nr310E pc notebook. I just

i cant find the model listed - is this the model VGN NR310
Theres a number of methods to get into the recovery manager on Sony - could not find any specific info on your model - I would try the following F8 or F10 (Alt + F10 ) should bring up the recovery manager as the PC boots - Do you have Sony Vaio Recovery Centre on the PC ? You can create recovery DVDs from this program
The support site for that model is here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=VGNNR310E

Sony vaio model pcg-61611L it turns on for 4 seconds and then it turns off using the ac adapter . help please

The charger may be bad, will it charge the battery? a common problem is the DC jack in the laptop breaks connection on the motherboard internittent operation or no power and shut down. If you can sub the charger that will tell if the power supply is bad or the problem is in the laptop. If the computer is the issue I recommend a professional because it will require extensive parts removal.

Hey, I got a little problem here...I am using sony vaio vpcee23fx . The problem is there is a sound like buzzzing coming out from the multumedia speaker when I plug the jack in to my sony audio jack. While...

Probably, the multimedia audio jack cable has kinked and in turn gone partially bad; especially close to the audio jack head.

What you can do is take it to an electronics/phone/tablet repair shop and get the jack head replaced.

Should work fine after this.

If you had the recovery disc for your system that would have made it a lot easier, you could try going to the store you bought it from and see if they can help you. The other option is go to www.sony.com to if they can offer support. The only other way is check www.ebay.com there are sellers that do sell recovery discs, maybe you may luck out finding the original.

When you boot the machine, use the proper key to enter the BIOS and check the date and time. If it is wrong then the BIOS battery is bad. Replace it.

No LCD display

if you get the hard drive lights flashing on boot up, the system will probably be booting as normal, if so, use a torch and shine it onto your screen to see if your desktop shows, if so your backlighting has failed and only taking to a qualified repairer is advised. If the system has not booted into windows, but you know the screen is ok, next time you boot up try pressing F8 on boot up and see if windows enters safe mode, and when it has gone into safe mode, highlight 'Last known good configuration' and press enter to reboot. The other thing to try is to press F2 or Del on boot up and seeif you can get into the bios, if you can and can see the bios menu, you know the screen is ok, but there is something more serious wrong. If all else fails use your windows cd to boot into windows, but you will have to set in the bios your cd drive to be the first boot device and then press enter when prompted to repair windows if neccassary. Unfortunately it is difficult to diagnose from your description of the problem, as even the hard drive may be faulty.
