Hi, I would just write a polite email to the manufacturer and say you have miss placed it while changing vehicles and stress how much you miss the use of there invaluable product.

(this can work to get it free or a bit cheaper)

SOURCE: ESCORT PASSPORT 8500 WILL NOT

you might as well check if you can turn on using only the battery. If it wont, then try to push the power button for 8 secs after you remove the battery and power cord. Then reinsert power cord, and turn it on. If it still no good, then call escort because this issue is something to do with the system board inside of it. It does not react to the situation wherein you have plug the working power cord and a working battery.

Hold all three buttons down at the same time to reset the device. If this doesn't work it probably needs to be sent back for repair/reflash. Jack

Taking apart escort passport 8500?

I thought that the 8500 used Phillips head screws. If its not Phillips head, then possibly you need an appropriate sized Torx screwdriver.

My passport 8500 stays on Full Alert

First you should try it in another car if possible. It sounds like an electrical problem. You need to rule out if its the car or the radar detector.

Open the end of the power cord it unscrews, check the fuse in it to see if its blown.

Ive also seen the screws loose that hold the circuit board down cause problems. If its out of warranty now, there should be a screw on the bottom usually under a sticker. If you peel that back and remove the screw, and lift the bottom off..Tighten any screw you see holding tbe board down, dont tighten it to hard. Then replace the cover.

Post back after you try some of those, let me know if it still does it.

Passport 8500 will no longer switch to LOUD mode

Try doing a factory reset as described in the user manual since it is possible that a power fluctuation has somewhat corrupted the internally saved user settings.
