The manual doesn't tell me anything about that blinking red light at the icemaker on/off switch. It's not producing ice, the water line isn't frozen, the freezer is good and cold, there is no ice jammed in the storage bin or dispenser parts. Help!

When you open the freezer door the light should be blinking. When you hold the flipper door shut (on the left hand side) without blocking the beam, the light should stay on solid. If all of this happens then the optics are o.k. If optics are ok then you most likely have a broken motor module on the icemaker and should replace the icemaker thermostat along with it. A bad icemaker thermostat will lead to the module breaking. If you not sure how to replace these parts then I would just replace the whole icemaker. That would be easiest and usually not much more expensive.

You have a better chance of finding out that the problem is a broken moduele. The fingers that grab the ice and rotate it out they should be resting at the 2 oclock posotion. If stuck in any other posotion its broken. It's expensive but not hard to do. If you had a bad soloniod you would either have a frozen tube or a block of ice at the top

I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.
What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.
Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.
Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?

good sign its flashing , woth door open depress the left side flap oppiste the blinkin light. does the light then go solid red??? i fso its an indication that the electricl eye is operating ok .
theres a screw 1/4 in. along the right side underneath the icemaker itself, youll need to removeit and the cover its holding down. you can then slide the ice maker assy foward and out of machine,There will be another litle tab along loeft side uder ice maker youll need to depress to ppulll unit out. pry off the white cover from front of the ice maker assy itself and have a look at the main gear 2 in. round, is it broken off, or on its way top breaking( sometimes the tabs that hold it on to the ice maker module itself break preventing operation, if this is the case youll need to repalce the ice maker assy.

Replace the icemaker . The laser receiver (on right side ) is supposed to blink twice then pause then twice repeatedly .Normal. Also clean the coils under fridge .

I found out the blinking red light is the ice level infrared sensor and the fact it blinks just means it's working. But I'm still able to get water through the door dispenser and don't hear any going to the ice maker.
I found out the blinking red light is the infrared sensor that checks the level of ice in the bin and the fact it blinks just says it's working properly. The motor unit that dispenses the ice works, but no water is getting to the ice maker. I can get water from the door dispenser so the line isn't frozen. Maybe this add'l info will help with a diagnosis.
THE WATER DIPENSER WORKS JUST NO ICE IS BEING PRODUCED
It's not producing ice, the water line isn't frozen, the freezer is good and cold, there is no ice jammed in the storage bin or dispenser parts. Water flowing fine from water dispenser.
Red light blinking next to the On/Off switch.

Had power outage 3 days. Ice Maker now not producing ice. Used hair dryer on water inlet tube -- no help. Can get cold water out of dispenser but no ice out of ice maker. KitchenAid model # KSRU25CRSS00. Red light at ice maker On/Off switch is blinking red. Any Suggestions?

4 boys at home with non-working ice maker. HELP! Have ice maker that is not producing ice. ( did have blinking light also) Water going to door dispensor. Help....................
I have same problem. I replaced Ice Maker Kit $55 and Valve $40 in back but did not do the job. I checked gor blocked water line it works fin. I found out that there is no signal/power to turn on the water valve. I am about to change a ice maker On/Off switch and that is the only part that has not been changed. Its a controll module circuit board worth $10 then i have complete ice maker system new including valve for drinking water!
Can it be a sensor that demands a water and sands signal/power to valve to open?
Please, if there is any trick let me know about this.
the ice is not producing the light is blinking but the water will not go in the maker
I have the same problem Mike
Tech17,
I have model # KSRG25FKSS05 MFG 10/03 that stopped producing ice. The water still works but the ice maker is not calling for water. I replaced the water inlet valve thinking that was the problem but it did not resolve the issue. The water line from the valve to the bearing cup assembly is clear as I can blow air through it. The ice maker control on the right hand side of the freezer is not blinking unless I put my finger on the sensor and then it will blink twice and then pause and repeat. Any suggestions?
