Whirlpool WTW6400SW Cabrio Washer Logo
Bill Stephens Posted on Jan 20, 2013

My whirlpool cabrio washer has started shutting off half way through the wash cycle...won't drain and spin...could the motor be overheating or is there something else I can check?

The machine is only 3 years old...bought at Lowe's as s set with the dryer.....in the past it has failed to drain and spin but just setting it to drain and spin has worked to make it do that. Now, even if I set it to drain and spin it won't run at all.

Most likely the cycle timer needs to be replaced. it is basically a clockwork device that that has cogs attached to a spindle. if you check the schematics for your product you will find the part no. etc. any servicing of course needs to be done wit the power disconected

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

I hope this information is helpful to you. The majority of the situations arise from improper installation and is not an operaitonal problem with the washer. If, however, you double check everything and still have problems, please post back and let me know.

The washer drew half a tub of water on the "Bulky items" cycle, and stopped. All the lights on the cycle dial light up and flash, the machine beeps and the me error message in the "estimated time remaining" field is "Ld". I've tried to shut the machine down and change the cycle to "drain and spin" but it will not agitate, won't drain or spin.

your washers drain hose is too far down the drain pipe which is causing a siphoning action pull the washers drain hose out pipe some you should be able to hear water dropping into the pipe the reason it only happens in the rinse cycle is because the water from wash is being drained and before the water vacuum is broken the rinse water comes in causing it to keep draining

Sounds like the belt broke and probably need replacing or the motor is shot.

It is either a timer issue or a motor issue. I know, that you knew. But if you have a motor with like circuitry and size, you can try that or to put it into the spin cycle and see if it is a mechanical obstruction or with a voltmeter see if the timer is working.

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6700TW1 skips wash cycle and stops after 14 minutes to oL

oL is an Overload error. Try running a cycle empty.

If oL (overloaded) appears in display, the load too large. If an overload is detected, the washer will drain any water and detergent in the washer. Remove several items and add HE detergent. Close lid and press START/PAUSE.

Cabrio washer stops spinning and doesn't restart

it sounds like the water pump is not emptying properly, blow down the water outlet pipe to see if is clear if not go to the water pump and clean it out there is probably a button , paper clip or other debris preventing it from doing its job eric

I have a whirlpool wfs1072Aw 7.5kg washer that has stopped spinning and won't start even the wash cycle

You probably have either a bad gearcase, timer, or lid switch. Defective motor is also possible.

the timer may need to be replaced.. it might not be clicking on the spin cycle. try moving the dial manually to the spin mode.
