THERE IS NO USB SYMBOL OPTION SHOWING ON THE MENU
SOURCE: usb harddisk problem on LG 50PT81+ not compatibel XP
LG have created a solution that only allows you to backup to a hard disk in the format that they have created.
The hard disk can not then be read by a computer as they only recognize formats such as NTFS, FAT or FAT32: not LG´s format!!!
If you reformat the disk in FAT32 format then you can copy files to the hard disk and see your photos, or certain types of DIVX files and listen to music via your TV,......BUT...you can not save TV programs from the TV to the same hard disk UNLESS you allow the TV to reformat the hard disk to LG´s format ) in which case you will lose all the files you previously had on the hard disk.
In practice LG have created a backup solution that is of little use to most users particularly bearing in mind that the backup takes almost as long as the original programs and as long again to restore.
Most of LG´s products are very clever and have a tendency to be in advance of the market.
However on this occasion LG almost had a good idea but many users are going to feel tricked like I did,

pq2000 does not have a movies option for USA, the pq3000 does. I also have the 2000..
SOURCE: I plug in the USB
First, try using a different USB stick. If that doesn't fix the problem then your new tv is either faulty or the tv operating system has a bug.
Check the LG website in your country to see whether there are any firmware updates available. If not, then return the tv for refund or exchange, but make sure to try your USB drive on any replacement set in store as it's highly likely to be a bug in your model which will affect all of the other examples as well.
SOURCE: My lg lcd tv has a usb port but only recognises
You need to activate it first, here are the steps:
1. Press the enter(OK) both on the remote and the TV at the same time...hold for about 5 seconds
2. Password - 0000
3. Go to tool option 3
4. Change Jpeg to 1
5. Change Divx to SD or HD
6. Exit and try it out.
You will notice that now there are 8 inputs in the option list instead of 6 - Including a USB input.
Hope this helps
