My freezer will completely thaw out over about 24 hours (all of the ice melts and all off the food is thawed), then it will freeze again for about another 24 hours and start the thawing process again.

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow. You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model
The doors not being shut can make it freeze up,Just thaw again and make sure the doors get shut each time and see what happens, just post back details if it doesn't work after thawing
I would take the freezer bowls out of the freezer, run them both under the sink to thaw both bowls out, dry both bowls thoroughly, and then set them both on the counter so that the liquid settles toward the bottom of the freezer bowls. After 1 hour, place the bowls FLAT back into the freezer - don't forget to wrap them in a plastic grocery bag or some other sort of plastic bag. Try to make ice cream again after 24 hours or more of freezing. Let me know if this works, so I can pass the good news along to others.
This is a fairly common problem with these types of refrigerators. The design is set to defrost every 12 hours and be down for 1 hour to allow ice to melt on coils. More often than not the ice never fully melts and creates a blockage in the coils and in turn slows air flow. You can remove the screws in the back wall of freezer unit and unsnap the ice maker plug to allow access to the coil. Gently tilt the back plate forward. You can then unplug the ref. and help it thaw with a blow drier. If you are not comfortable removing the back plate then you can just unplug the ref. and let it thaw on its own. this may take a while. try to remove as much ice as you can from the back of the freezer wall by hand and prop the door open for a couple of hours to ensure that all the ice melts. The rattling sound you are hearing is the fan blades hitting the ice that is built up around it. As a precaution I recommend that these type of refrigerators get manual defrost simply by unplugging about once a month for about two (2) hours. I hope that this will help you out with the melted ice cream. Good luck.
reason is that the evaporator is blocked with ice and hence no air circulation.
either
switch off for 24 hours with doors open
or
remove back panel inside freezer and melt ice off with a hairdryer
hi thanks for the question is this a new fridge . if it is the fridge does shut down to enable the freezer to thaw. if it did not do that do that the freezer would ice up . not cooling the fridge part thanks for the question
Thaw the bowl and re-place it in the freezer - make sure it is sitting perfectly level. Don't remove the freezer bowl until you are immediately ready to pour in the ingredients - letting it sit out for even 5 minutes will be too long, as it thaws quickly.
the coil is frosted over and no air is being pushed to the fridge it may clear up after a few defrost cycles or remove the food from the freezer and allow it to thaw completely (12hrs) the ice behind the back wall takes a long time to thoroughly melt or you will have soild ice instead of frost and then it will never thaw soild ice.
