Hotpoint Aquarius WF440 Washing m/c - Door Lock light

Hi,
Put the machine on to wash and started OK. Later went back to find it stopped with WASH light on and DOOR LOCKED light flashing.

Door was closed and locked, had to unplug to release door lock. Now when I try to put machine on, the door locks but the machine does not recognise that the door is closed/locked (door locked light off) and the machine will not run.

Is this a door interlock problem, or a failed electronics board? If door interlock, how tricky is it to replace?

Replacing is not too difficult. remove the door seal retainer on the front of the machine, should be a wire and spring affair, and slide the door seal away near the lock.
undo the two screws holding the lock on and swop the connector into the new one.
put some washing up liquid on the retainer before putting it back on to make it easier.

You have probably knocked of the connector or the catch (and on these it is very fragile as I have changed the catch 3 times on mine) is broken

Many or even most washing machines will not run if the door lock switch is not working. Open and close the door a few times to see if the light stops flashing. You could press on the door where the latch is and see if that makes a difference.

I am fairly confident that the problem is entirely due to the fact that the heater is not working.
You are going to have to wait until the new heater is fitted beore being able to tell if there is another fault.

Hotpoint WMA33 washer - door won't open
Problem seems to have corrected itself! I tried another slow spin cycle, waited a reasonable interval for the Door Locked light to go off, then when it didn't I switched the power to the machine off. I tried squeezing the door catch a few times and pressing the door downwards, then left it. Some time later when I went into the kitchen the door was open. I washed a small load this morning and the machine worked normally. Fingers crossed, it's ok now.
