many PCs all fall with w8 installed and up[. lacking USB drivers.
the cam uses secret internal USB-0 port
deep inside PC, so is first to fail.

folks upgrade the PC OS and fails
or reloads the OS from scratch and then forgot to get the huge HP.com driver set for this exact PC, not told G7 is series.

they are there still.
test the camera with no usb ports or cables connected, at all but a keyboard.
cables can and do short.
then test all usb ports using mouse
or usb keyboard, wired, are they all dead.? still?\
the USB ports in laptops share power
some times 4 ports are shared.
so if one shorts out, cables or devices
they all go dead at once.
the PC has 3 USB slots. + usb0 inside,
so you only tested 2 of 3? why not all
best test on earth is usb keyboard wired.
all other ports not used.

USB devices shorted test them 1 at a time and never just 1, if its bad it makes the test useless.
when posting on PC tell full model number
not near useless G7 name.
tell what OS is there now.
tell if OS was upgraded or fresh installed .
tell if changed from w7 to w8.
tell how if did. if USB fails driver are bad. in most cases./

There are several things that you should check: 1. Remove the ram and start the laptop: check if you hearany beeps. If thereis no beep sound, then it either the processor or the motherboard are bad. 2. In this situation check the AC adapter. You can test theoutput voltage with a voltmeter. If you cannot do that, find a known good ACadapter and use it for testing the laptop. It is possible the laptop appears tobe dead because the AC adapter is bad (and the battery is discharged). If youknow that the AC adapter is working properly and it outputs correct voltage butthe laptop is still dead, most likely you have a power issue on the motherboard(or power board on some laptops) and it has to be replaced. 3. If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
