How Can I remove Windows Media Player from my computer.. the day i reinstalled my win xp sp2 it is not working it is also not allowing me to update it to windows media player 11.. i want to completely remove my media player or reinstall it.. how to do it ???

This is due to a security flaw in SP2. You will need to download SP3 update from Microsoft!
IF you go to Microsoft XP SP3 Manual Update, follow this link and download the update then run it. This will correct the issue.
I also suggest that turn on automatic updates. Although XP is no longer supported by Microsoft you will still get all the old updates.

No, Sansa players work with many types of music files and computers.
You may want to post details about your computer-- Mac, Windows, or Linux?
Also, what computer software do you use for music-- MediaMonkey? Windows Media Player?
Assuming you are using Windows XP--
You may already have songs on your Win XP computer, in Windows Media Player. If so, you can synchronize your player with Win Media Player-- This will load all the songs from your computer onto the Sansa, space permitting.

You can also copy files directly to the Sansa player, just as you copy files to a flash drive:

1) Configure the Sansa Player as a removable drive.
With player unplugged, go to Settings > System Settings > USB Mode
Select MSC

2) Plug the Sansa player into your computer.
The computer will recognize it as a flash drive, and will assign a drive letter.

3) Open Windows Explorer.
Find the directory on your computer that contains music files.
Copy and paste music files into the Music directory on your Sansa player.

4) Using the green arrow, bottom left on the system tray, safely shut down the Sansa player.

5) When you unplug it, the player will spend a minute or two updating its files.

6) Your music should be available to play.

If you are running things on a system other than Win XP, please post more details--
Someone may give you a more exact solution.

Sad to say that Windows Media Player 12 is only for OS Win 7. You can't install WMP12 on XP OS.

After remoting into system, noticed that updates.exe was still running in the task manager. Ended updates.exe and downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. It installed, customer rebooted. Advised on a few maintenance tips for restore points, etc. Skip was a pleasure to work with.

Uninstall all Philips software through the Add/Remove Programs function.

Then reinstall the installation CD.

Then and only then, plug your mp3 player into the computer.

When you plug the Mp3 player into 2 computers running slightly different versions of XP, a reformatting occurs which will cause it not to work on one PC or the other. You must reformat your player for the home computer. Actually, you might want to check the firmware also: Go to Creative's website and double-check the firmware - it will also give you the best way to reformat your player:

Hi niket_shah, sorry but you're board Asus M2N-MX, does support Win XP SP2.
Chances are that while installing windows updates one or more updates failed. People like myself know from repairing PC's which updates need to be installed first. If you're Win XP SP2 did not or would not install than either the Win CD is not a valid Microsoft Win XP SP2 CD or (You have a copy) & there is something wrong with the CD. After a fresh (New install) of Win XP with SP2 there is more than 90+ updates for SP2 which must be downloaded through windows update program. Or you're windows will not function properly.

To recap this issue. The problem is either the WinCD or possibly you're hard drive. Make sure you allow windows to perform a full format before installing window. (Not a quick format).

Before preceding, goto control panel, add/remove programs (vista equivalent) select windows media player and uninstall note the response it gives you. If it is going to allow you to uninstall OR downgrade windows media player to version 9 then keep going. If not, then find another computer that you've never used the player on try upgrading firmware there, make SURE it's got windows media player 9 by downgrading it in add/remove programs.

Now for the fun stuff:

Sounds like the same problem I've resolved several times in the past on here.

1. Plug in the device.
2. Goto device manager in control panel and remove the device drivers.
3. Reboot if it asks you to, make sure to unplug the device.
4. Goto device manager again, remove the USB hubs.
5. Don't reboot.
6. Goto control panel, add remove software or equivalent for windows vista ultimate.
7. Select creative labs, and uninstall any and every zen related software.
8. Don't reboot.
9. Goto my computer, find the creative directory located on your main hard drive at \program files\creative. Deleted it completely.
10. Select windows media player select uninstall, or downgrade accordingly.
11. Make sure your zen touch is not plugged in and reboot your system.
12. After system loads, plug in the device and run the firmware software again.

And if you wish, reinstall windows media player 10 and the creative software (which you don't need at all with vista) all the other drivers should reinstall themselves.

BTW it's a hell of alot easier to just use another CPU if you have access to one, I've done it both ways and it saves alot of time.

Hi blackmajik, I just got a Sandisk m250. Windows wouldn't recognize it either until I updated my Windows Media Player to version 11. Now XP sees it just fine and the MP3 player syncs with WMP and accepts and plays music!
