When water is added to the iron and it starts to steam the steams comes out of the water hole
You have the steam generator iron DG5030 not a regular water tank in the iron type right? Try changing the gasket in the tank cap. There are youtube videos online on how to do it. 1800Parts.com carries Rowenta parts at the lowest price online. You may need to replace the entire cap or... if the screw shaft in the housing is stripped, I see they have replacement housings at 1800Parts.com, you could try that but I don't know if you need to be a professional repair person to replace the main tank like that. I love my Rowenta steam generator iron but they only seem to last for 2-3 years before they start having problems.
Check the holes in the hot plate are not blocked with lime scale...sounds like you have a back pressure problem

Hi, the other two responders were correct, use clear or filtered drinking water only. Also, use your iron until it runs dry and use burst of steam or self cleaning function to clear out the last bits of water, being sure it is empty before putting it away. Several cycles of this using and purging process will clean the iron without chemicals. Standing water that evaporates is just like a tea kettle with water left in it, all the white mineral deposits settle to the bottom, and the water dissolves the mineral salts, and when dissimilar metals are wet (think of a an old flashlight battery and the corrosion that occurs if left in storage.

Hi, there is probably a something broken in the moulded plastic trigger assembly (there is a plastic broken finger that actuates a micro-switch under the rubber handle cover). If you are so inclined, use an orange stick and gently pry up the rubber handle cover on either side from the front to the rear cord end to access, inspect and troubleshoot. I am in SoCal and use the California Electric website to obtain parts or go to the Rowenta home website to locate useful manual information, PDF reader and dealer near you.

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.
