Probably a blocked filter, outlet pipe or pump.
Take the drain hose and lay it flat and lower then the level of the drum and this will drain the machine providing the blockage is not solid. When machine is empty check filter , pipes and pump and remove any blockage found.
Replace drain hose and you should then be able to carry on with your wash or spin the clothes.

SOURCE: whirlpool washer LLR9245DQ0 stopped working

Unplug the washer and look to see if the plug is burnt. it may have a bad connection if so you can try to clean the prongs on the plug with a pencil eraser. DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN THE WALL PLUG. Plug it in and see if works. If you don't hear any strange noises through the wash cycle it is ok but, stay close enough to listen.

F21 = LONG DRAIN ERROR

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear.

Procedure:

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
6. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
7. Replace the pump.

Alternative Procedure:

If the machine cannot be forced to its diagnostic mode then:

1. Disconnect the washer from the power supply and water supply.
2. Remove the top panel by taking out the three screws in the back of the washer. The pressure switch is right on top.
3. Remove the Molex connector from the water level switch / pressure switch.
Refer to the picture below.
4. Reconnect the power supply but not the water supply.
5. Power the machine. The machine will enter diagnostic mode.
6. Power off the machine.
7. Replace the water level switch / pressure switch.
8. Reconnect the water supply.
9. Power on the machine it will work without error

SOURCE: whirpool duet washer

This one is complicated, and could involve drain pump operation or pressure switch hose condition. Behind the bottom panel, there is a detailed troubleshooting guide, and goes into detail about possible solutions to this problem. The bottom panel has three small bolts (facing outward), remove them and the panel comes off, and the guide is in plastic, glued to the back of the panel. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet 9100 will not drain during regular wash cycle

I would assume that you are using HE detergent if not the pump could go into a suds lock. You may have a bad drain pump. The other options could be possibly a bad central control unit. (however these are very expensive) or possibly a door lock issue but usually you will get a door lock error.

Lid Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve

If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board

If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Kenmore Elite Washer Stopped mid-cycle. Only hums when turning on

You will have to drain it, those units use a belt to drive the transmission. It may have come off the pulleys or broken in half. If you can get a large wet and dry vacuum, that would make it easier to drain. Hook the vacuum to the drain hose and remove the water.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

I Agree, I don't think it is any other board, I believe the CCU (central control unit) has gone bad as it keeps on stopping mid cycle. If it was the Motor Control Board (MCU) then the washer motor should have been causing problems (which isn't the case) so replacement of CCU will be a great option. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My affinity front load washing machine stopped mid-cycle. The door won't lock so it won't run and it has water sitting in it. Is there anything we can try before calling a repair man?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
There is likely to be a problem with either the door solenoid/lock or the 'door closed' sensor. Sorry but both require a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(
If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!
