Look at the manual again maybe theres a button that you have to turn on. Or call the nearest repair man maybe he knows or can tell you.

SOURCE: My Rowenta Garment Steamer will not steam up.

Ok. This thing is caused by scaling. If the steam generator runs out of water the sensor thinks the tank is empty and causes the machine to go to standby (basically switch off -- orange light comes on). The solution: Open the machine and clean it.

MAKE SURE THE POWER CABLE IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

1. There are six screws ( phillips - you will need a long screwdriver). Two of them are hidden under the wheels (just pop off the rollers and you will see the screws)

2. Open the steam generator (there are four screws) and be very careful with the 'O' ring -- you damage it and you can say good bye to the machine. Clean it if you see scaling. The amount of scaling present would indicate how hard your water was. This itself may not be cause of the problem but now that you openend the machine, you might as well as clean it for better efficiency.

3. Disconnect the hose to the steam generator (it has two circlips) and clean it. Mine had hard deposit of scales preventing the water reaching the steam generator.

Re assemble it.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Is there a product to run through a rowenta pro

To start with, use distilled water for steaming. This will prevent calcium build-up. I buy bottles of distilled water for ironing/steaming only. I have never had calcium build-up from using distilled water for ironing/steaming. Do not use tap water!!!

You can buy some CLR (stands for Cacium, Lime & Rust) (can be found at Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, etc.). You can run this product through your steamer to eliminate build-up.

Good luck!

SOURCE: on and off petal switch not working

When I took mine apart I noticed the switch had melted near the contacts. This makes me not want to fix it, but instead, look for a better model. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: how do i open d

There are four screws (Phillips) but you need long thin screw driver to remove them. Then there are TWO screws underneath the Castors. Just pop the Castors and turn them and you will see the screws. BTW there are two fuses inside. One you can replace and the other one is soldered in and you need to be little skilled to replace it. Chances are if the first one blew the second one should be OK. Good luck.

How to use a steamer.

  1. Plug in the steamer.
    • The steamer usually comes with a smallish padded square with a strap that slips over your hand. (If you so not have one of these, cut out a square from some stiff cardboard, pad it using cotton batting, and cover it with a heavy, smooth, waterproof or water-resistant material.)
  2. Make sure it is steaming nicely before you use it. You check by pulling the little trigger on the handle, and seeing how much steam issues when you release it. You actually want to use this while steaming as well, in order to release more steam when needed.
  3. Hang the garment, and slip the padded square over one hand.
  4. Place the hand with the square on the underside of the garment, and use it to keep the fabric smooth while you steam it.
  5. Use the steamer by holding the nozzle close to the garment, and pulling both it and the padded square in downwards strokes.
