Instructions on replacing the bulb not the housing
I know how to replace the the housing and the bulb, but it is much cheaper to replace only the bulb. Can you tell me, is the housing difficult to disassemble and then reassemble with the new bulb?
Re: Instructions on replacing the bulb not the housing
It's not too bad to replace just the bulb but rather more difficult to find just the bulb on it's own. The guys at lumenarc.co.uk should be able to give you just the bulb. As a start, you might want to have a look at this video:

The housing is part of the bulb cooling system so it has to be properly mounted to cool
I did a quick look for the bulb and yes you can find bulb only BUT they are $10 to $20 more than the bulb and housing !
So it looks like it is cheaper to replace the bulb and housing. As a guess I would say that these bulbs are what someone has found out to be a replacement but can't purchase then as cheap. So to save yourself some money buy the combo.
Google "DLP lamp" and you'll get many places from which to order lamps. Go to one of these sites and they should have a search box. Enter your model number and it should give you the part number of your lamp. Try several sites if the first one doesn't give you what you need to know. Once you have your lamp number you can shop the various sites for the best price. Note: You can buy your lamp complete (with the housing it comes in),..... or just the bulb and replace the bad one in the housing (cheaper)..... if you have the skills needed. If not buy it complete with housing. If you change the bulb only,.. don't touch it with your bare hands. Most bulb only packages come with rubber gloves.
Resmove the two screws that secure the light housing, pull the housing out to expose the bulb socket, turn the socket clockwise to remove it from the housing, pull the bulb out and replace and reinstall
go to the parts house first and purchace a package of 10-15 they will be able to look in the catalog to give you the right ones ? some of the fords use a cheaper 912 bulb some come wth a little black plastic housing they are more expensive the just go in like your tailght bulbs push and turn, but make sure you replace the dashlight bulbs not the others/oil/brake/ etc cause the all are the same bulb? hope this helps
Looking at the TV.....You have to unscrew the left side speaker panel. Then you have to unscrew the black panel next to the speaker - this exposes the lamp housing. Unscrew the two small screws that hold the housing in place and gently pull the lamp housing out. Now you need to see if the bulb is defective or not. I've gone through 4 bulbs in 4 years so get use to it. You can get the bulb/housing units online cheaper then what a TV service will cost. Good luck!!!
wow i feel sorry for you because Cadillac designed this bulb to be a don't get to bulb but OK here's what you do take the bottom cover off or skid plastic panel under neath the front end theirs little plastic clips holding it on just get come dikes and don't cut them but just use it to help pull them out. after you get that off use a flash light and locate your light housing you should see two screws holding the house in i think those screws are 8mm i cant remember remove those two screws and be careful the metal from the bumper cuts you pull the light housing out and remove all the screws around the housing and open the housing up replace the bulb and make sure your contact to the bulbs clean and then reassemble the way you took apart. if you cant get it well then best bet is take it somewhere i know Cadillac charges an arm and a leg so you can go somewhere else.
Note - you do not need the entire housing, just the lamp itself which is cheaper. I just purchased a lamp on ebay at arounf $160 including prompt shipment.
Pull the panel off where the speakers are the entire plastic lover comes off. Next, make sure the tv is unplugged and has been off for at least 15 min, preferably longer. See the box with 4 screws take those out... it should have a set of instructions or some sign saying it contains the bulb. Anyway.. after that door comes off, peer inside and you'll see the bulb about 6-8" back and has set screws which must be unscrewed completely before it can come out. Be careful, don't yank the bulb out. Then place the new bulb in, reverse the process I told you, plug the tv in and reset the bulb when it askes if you changed the bulb.
It is really easy on mitsubishi tv's to change them... post back if I can be of further assistance.
