Green LED always on, power switch has no effect

I recently changed lamps on my TV and everything worked fine for a few days. I turned it on today and the screen turned a light blue color, and was unresponsive to any buttons on the controller including power. I tried to manually press the power button on the TV and it still wouldn't power off. I unplugged it for a while and when I plugged it back in it turned back on to a black screen with the green LED still on. Power switch still not working, any suggestions?

If using a box or receiver in line with the set unplug those as well. I assume the red light on the set is not coming on or a light is blinking?

SOURCE: Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

You definitely have a bad lamp. Sony rates the lamp life at between 4000 and 8000 hours. There are 3 things that effect the lamp life, listed in order of importance:
1) number of times the lamp is turned on and off. Every time the lamp is first fired, it takes life off the lamp. Customers I see that turn the TV on in the morning, leave it on all day and then turn it off on the evening can get up to 12000 lamp hours
2) ventilation. Be sure you have at least 6 inches of open space all the way around the set and that the vents are clear of dust and debris.
3) power. If the power is interrupted when the set is on, there cannot be a proper cool down cycle. The fans will run after you turn the set off to properly cool it down, if the power is lost this cannot happen. If your power is unreliable, buy a small UPS to let the set finish a cool down cycle

Occasionally a lamp will faill before the average lamp time due to being defective. from your purchase date it sounds like you got about average lamp time. Be sure to purchase AN ORIGINAL SONY LAMP as a replacement, becuase the aftermarket lamps are bad news, Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

SOURCE: TV won't turn on

you need to replace the lamp in your tv, it is easy and you can do it. Look on the sides of the set for a door labled lamp, with the set unplugged open it up and remove the lamp, if the bulb is out it will have lots of glass in the lens

Your optical block is going bad. Sony has made a recall and is offering to pay around 70% of a new tv. Call this # 1-800-282-2848 Hope this helps.

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

Turns on and off green LED flashes until TV turns back on.

this is a symptom of a bad lamp. for some reason it won't spit out a lamp error. shaking up the lamp will sometimes fix temporarily but you will find replacing to be the answer. if your tv has a fan error, you will get 4 red blinks.

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!
