Need ohm readings for Maytag Performa Model PYE 3200AYW
Hello,
My dryer does not heat. I have read other questions/answers, it's not blocked, it tumbles, blower works, just no heat. I have id the 3 different possible problems: heating element, hi limit thermostat or thermal fuse. I think there could be any other possible reasons? But I don't know what the reading should be on the ohm meter for each. Please help.
Maytag Performa Model PYE3200AYW. All I could find was model 2300 info.
thanks

Hello there: If there is no heat or heat sometimes please try these solutions Heating elementOften a dryer heating element burns out, but
doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is
simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with
an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to
replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.Thermal fuseOn many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to
the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about
an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white
plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You
can't re-set it.)WiringA common problem is for the main wiring connection
from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because
the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be
only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to
the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is
attached to.
doesn't matter,it's either good or bad, when you touch the meter to it if it reads 1 and doen't move it's bad if you get any reading it's good,if the dryer is loaded with lint in the duct that the lint filter slides into and the vent line is blocked it will keep popping on you, clean out the dryer, number one cause for popping the thermal fuse
You have a thermal overload switch that may be bad. It is located under the top of the dryer. Check first the breakers. Turn them off and then back on, then check the wiring in the back of the dryer and then the element itself. It may take 30 minutes to do all of this, but it will save you a lot in the long run.
most maytag "performa" dryers with no power h appen froma blown thermal fuse. It is located under the top and beside the heating element. you can take an ohm meter to both terminals. If you do not get a reading, the part is bad. It comes as a kit with a new safety tstat

Do not buy or use a maytag performa dryer model number pye2300ay at all. I fyou have one unplug it and take to the landfill or scrap yard. They are complete junk and nothing but a hassle. One problem after the other on this model no matter what you do. they are complete trash and a waste of your money.
hi thanks for the question. disconnect the dryer. remove the front 2 screws remove front. element is on the right in a cylinder check and replace. thanks the appliance doc
hi .thanks for the question .no the element does not go bad a little at a time. but the venting gets clogged up a little at a time . remove the venting and clean to the outside wall . also if the dryer is noisy you could have a blower problem. if the dryer is noisy .but check the venting thanks the appliance doc
Suspect heating element or thermal fuse. The heating element and fuse can be checked with an ohm meter. The reading should be 0-2 ohms on both devices. If heating element reads infinity (nothing) replace heating element and fuse. If the fuse reads infinity then replace the fuse.
