The motor is running, the fan comes on, and we cleaned out the compressor at the bottom. The freezer seems to be holding between 25-35 degrees, regardless of the setting, and the fridge is also getting warmer. This has been going on for about 10 days. After the cleaning, the freezer did get cooler for a couple days, but now both fridge and freezer are warm again. The fridge is only 5 years old. My question is whether it is worth it to call in a repairman, or just buy a new one and stay away from Kenmore.

I'm not sure. When I open the door or change the setting, I can hear the fan kick in. My brother-in-law came over to clean the compressor and checked all the parts. He didn't see anything obviously not running.
I did call a repairman, and it turned out to be a faulty thermostat. It was a pricey part, but worth the fix and cheaper than a new fridge! Thanks for your suggestions.
if the fan near the compressor is not running it will not get cold enough.
are both fans running (1 inside and 1 outside?)
