Ice maker will call for water 12-14 hours after plug in. If the ref was running and then Waterline was connected it should call for water in 4 hours or less. Easy rule, after 24 hours, ice bin should be full.

SOURCE: My icemaker is not working. Water not filling tray

Probably the valve that feeds water to the ice maker leaks and this water freezes up at the filling tube to the ice maker and the water doesn't go through, but if the filling tube is not frozen and the ice maker doesn't call for water the problem is in the ice maker inside board ,if so you should replace the ice maker.

Installed new icemaker still not making ice

Some icemakers have to be turned on inside the Freezer at the Icemaker itself, it might be as simple as a small on/off switch or a lever that completes the curcuit to the solenoid that allows the tray to fill. Remember: None of that will matter if the Ice Tray "Overfull" Safety Bar is in the Up position because that is a Safety switch that shuts OFF Power to the Icemaker. For You Novices... That's the bent silver Wire rod thingy that hangs over the Ice Bin/bucket deal. Simply grasp it and see if it will move down a bit, gently. If it moves freely, downward, You should hear the Icemaker start working! WARNING: Don't use the first few batches of Ice, after the second or third cycle, it should be pretty clean.

Ice maker not dumping ice

It could be the harvest thermostat or the mold heater is bad on the icemaker. It is usually better to just replace the icemaker. Installing a harvest thermostat is a but tricky and the mold tray is 3/4 of the icemaker anyway..

Model FGHB2846LF3 ice maker not working

The ice maker has a heater element underneath it that is designed to melt the ice a little bit so that the fingers of the icemaker can scoop out the ice. If the element does not turn off and the fingers do not push the ice out it will melt with the result that you have. Appears that the cam conducting the operations is not working properly. Rather than buy this part separately (expensive) you can get a new working icemaker on ebay for about 45 dollars and you can easily install the unit yourself.

Is there a shut off valve on the ice maker?

There should be a shut off valve at the beginning of the water line that the installer tapped into when installing your icemaker. Mine runs down through my kitchen floor into my laundry room and is tapped into a copper cold waterline with a small handle attached to it.

To stop icemaker from making ice simply raise the lever to the up position that is attached and hangs next to your icemaker tray. This works on most models.

Icemaker makes shells. Outside is frozen but

Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out.
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.

Water runing down back side of icemaker and forming icicle.

If it is running down the back of the icmeaker then you need to make sure the inlet tube is properly installed into the fill cup on the icemaker. If the tube is in the right place then your icemaker fill level needs to be adjusted.
