I have a 10 year old Schumacher SE-520MA 10/2 Amp automatic charger that quit working. I opened the case looking for a fuse, which it does not seem to have, but instead I see what appears to be a popped capacitor that bridges the connection between the 120VAC line and the transformer primary coil. Could have been something else (diode, fuse, etc,) but I couldn't find any schematics and there's not enough left of it to figure out what it was. Can someone with this or a similar charger please tell me what this component is? The 120VAC line goes to a terminal block on the transformer, this component is arched up and bridges to the next terminal that contains the transformer primary coil winding.
There is probably a thermal? fuse inline with that wire that bridges two areas tucked down in there you can pull up and replace if there is continuity between two wires up above i am wrong. they want you to replace entire unit and i am having difficult time finding replacement fuse myself so hopefully i can decipher markings on mine to find correct replacement (fuse?) otherwise i'm gonna bypass it and hope i dont connect battery for too long or backwards or however else and it starts on fire. website only has manuals no schematics and entire unit is "non serviceable" so no useful parts list

A battery that might sit for a month at a time, would only need a trickle charge or about 1 amp, a charger of this type can stay hooked to the battery for the whole month. A 10 amp would be for a quick charge or only about 4 - 12 hours depends on how fast the battery lost the charge. A 10 amp charge would cook the battery if left for days.

The SE40MAP has an automatic shutoff when battery is fully charged.
